Some would say I’m doom and gloom but I’m not. I just don’t drink the koolaid like many do. I also evaluate the team and players based on more of a sample size than one game. Great game yesterday. Some really good performances by several players. Could not post yesterday because I have a life beyond CT and I was busy.

For some like me it’s not about drinking koolaid it’s being happy the cardinals finally picked a direction. I said for years I can get behind the cardinals going all in to try to win or I can get behind a complete tear down and rebuild but I can’t get behind the sustained mediocrity approach they have been going with for years where you build a very mediocre team hope to sneak into the playoffs then pray for miracles. Sure the actual kooliad drinkers thought that that was a good approach but all it ended up resulting in is missing the playoffs occasionally sneaking in and being one and done usually in a humiliating fashion. What kool-aid are you talking about? The team has obviously decided to go with the youth movement, and shed over priced vet salaries. It is what it is. Management didnt promise any more that that, and made no promises for this season. It is what it is. Clear and transparent. No kool-aid to drink, just the young players cutting their teeth. Enjoy the ride, but there will be plenty of bumps in the road.

I get your point but there are those that have very high expectations for some players and seem to buy into the WHOLE philosophy of the rebuild. Sorry but still skeptical of some of the direction we are taking. But I get it. Drinking the koolaid may have been harsh.

lol when they give up 7 runs the usually don’t win is doom and gloom talk for they didn’t win the right way. And if they win 7 or 8 games in a row the doom and gloomers will dismiss it. And I was very impressed by liebratore he didn’t have his best stuff but made big pitches when he needed to and gutted through 5 innings giving up just 1 run. Good pitchers bend but don’t break when they don’t have their best stuff I was impressed. Last season when he didn’t have it all working he got lit up this shows improvement

How many games to teams win when they give up 7+ runs? Maybe you should look it up. They aren't going to average 9 runs a game either. Because you take umbrage with gutting payroll just for the sake of being offended by gutting payroll, not because spending, at least to the $170, $180 million level that they have previously maxed out at, would make a material difference in the team being actually competitive right now.

We don't want, or not want, them to reduce payroll. We just understand that it is almost entirely pointless to throw more money at this particular roster to be marginally better, but still not competitive.

I'm with you, 41. Sustained mediocrity was hard to watch and support. I am fine with watching prospects show us what they've got. I love the energy of a young team and a front office committed to building from within. All those kids know that they will get a shot, and that's all they've ever wanted.
