I may be critical at times, but all the years I've attended games I never once booed a Cardinal player. I don't believe in that.

Re: The CT Doom and Gloomers are sure happy
Libby was fortunate to dodge a number of bullets.
I have faith in Svanson who was very good last season.
Yesterday he was bitten by two broken bat bloopers.
Then the Rays got two more infield dribblers to lead to their 6 runs.
Romero and O’Brien should be solid.
Stanek has good stuff but obviously needs much better control. We’ll see.
The rest of the BP????
I have never liked Roycroft.
Bruil?
Soriano?
Pushard?
Fortunately they seem to have some arms in waiting in Memphis.
Fingers crossed.

I havent read a single post where posters are drawing any conclusions what i have seen is cardinals fans excited about the cardinals being 6 runs down and coming back to win on opening day and if youre a cardinals fan and can’t get
Excited about that then you will probably never be happy about the cardinals. But I guarantee if they had lost the game the doom and gloomers would have been drawing conclusions after one game and if they lose the next game they will be out in force drawing conclusions

A sellout is listed at 47,514, attendance yesterday was 45,037. It will be interesting to what they draw tomorrow. Throughout baseball attendance was good at all games yesterday. A complete sellout or not it was good see a huge crowd.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 08:33 amWas it a sellout? I hope that performance and some more like it will spur more ticket sales. Very nice reasoned summationCCard wrote: ↑26 Mar 2026 22:16 pm You all know it is just one game. Right? Normally when you give up 7 runs you lose. Fortunately they came back in a big way. I'm upbeat about Church. He did a nice piece of hitting. Walker's drive to center should have been caught but those things happen. JJ crushed it today. Good looking talent there. The Cards relief was shaky at best. How often do you walk 3 in the 9th and not give up a run? A little disappointed in Libertore. I was hoping for a more dominant outing but it was opening day. Just hope the big games don't become a problem for him. Funny the Cards were actually outhit I think, but they hit the bombs. Anyway, when/if the run off about 7 or 8 losses in a row will you all be crowing? Not likely. One last thought, Scott II showed what he's capable of and why he was rated so highly. I hope he keeps it up, he could be a game changer for this offense. A good day for the Cards though and nothing makes me happier.

There will be almost certainly be more losses than wins this year and there will be times when this team looks very bad, but I think it is fun watching a new generation of young players trying to build something.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 03:33 am Always a net positive when they win, but it was a bit of a mixed bag today:
The good:
Burleson continuing his hitting from 2025
Church having a really good game both offensively and defensively
Scott getting on base and making the most of his running ability
Wetherholt with his first ML HR
Gorman and Walker showing some life offensively with 1 hit each
The not so good:
Liberatore got away with only giving up one run, but he can't live on a WHIP of 1.80, one HR per 5 IP, and only 2 K per 5 IP and be successful
The bullpen, outside of O'Brien, really looked bad as well. The others combined for 2 2/3 IP, 9 hits, 4 walks, 6 runs, and 3 K
I've been as down on Burleson as anyone here over the years, but I hope he can continue to build off his year last year. If he can add some more power to his game, I think that would put him in a whole new tier as a player.
I don't really know what to think of Church. I know he's not going to be a .900 OPS guy like he was in AAA, but if he can be an average to above average hitter, plus his defense, he will be a fun player to watch.
And speaking of fun players, I love it when Scott gets on base and runs like he can. I love to see him working on the bunting all offseason and laying down a perfect bunt yesterday. Do more of that. I don't know if he'll get it together offensively, but he is fun to watch defensively and on the bases. Maybe one of him and Church will establish themselves as a viable CF of the future for us this year.
It goes without saying, but it's awesome to see Wetherholt hit that HR. And he (bleep) near had another HR and hit on the day as well. I love it that they are having him leadoff. He made a really nice defensive play too, ranging to his right and making the throw to 1st.
I have a feeling that Gorman and Walker are going to let me down this year, but I will take a hit each from them.
I thought the same thing out of the bullpen. Not great. I think Oli has done a good job of handling the BP, so maybe once guys lock into their roles as the season progresses they will improve. It could be an even longer season if they don't, though. They've got a few options in the minors, though, I suppose, that might be an improvement as the season progresses.

Good assessment. But they can't continue to use 6 relievers daily.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 09:21 amThere will be almost certainly be more losses than wins this year and there will be times when this team looks very bad, but I think it is fun watching a new generation of young players trying to build something.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 03:33 am Always a net positive when they win, but it was a bit of a mixed bag today:

What kool-aid are you talking about? The team has obviously decided to go with the youth movement, and shed over priced vet salaries. It is what it is. Management didnt promise any more that that, and made no promises for this season. It is what it is. Clear and transparent. No kool-aid to drink, just the young players cutting their teeth. Enjoy the ride, but there will be plenty of bumps in the road.Jatalk wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 06:32 am Some would say I’m doom and gloom but I’m not. I just don’t drink the koolaid like many do. Exactly. And even if they had fallen short and come back to lose 7-5, that would have been an entertaining watch of players who busted their butt. After 2023-25, I’ll take a season of that.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑27 Mar 2026 09:46 amWhat kool-aid are you talking about?
