Do we really think Walker still has a spot in the lineup? On the ML roster? He’s only played in like 1 game this final week. Might be a signal for some surprise announcement /demotion?rockondlouie wrote: ↑19 Mar 2026 08:40 am 1 - JJW/2B

1,7,8,9 have been hitting awful both this spring at at the end of last year. Winn has a reasonable expectation of returning to form. The other 3, it’s just who they are.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑22 Mar 2026 05:07 am 1. Winn - SS - R

Re: Opening Day Lineup
Oli is on record now for months having said Walker "has nothing to gain" going to Memphis and that he wants the major league staff to work w/him instead.Goldfan wrote: ↑22 Mar 2026 09:48 amI expected more from Bloom…….are these his stupid decisions or Oli’s?rockondlouie wrote: ↑22 Mar 2026 09:45 amCarp4Cy wrote: ↑22 Mar 2026 04:57 amDo we really think Walker still has a spot in the lineup? It wouldn't be a good way to start off a POBO/Manager relationship for Bloom not to honor Oli's wishes.
BUT
I'd bet he's not going to give Walker more than to the ASB to prove he deserves to be up here.
I'd pull the ripcord even sooner (Memorial Day) if he's scuffling and send him down.

Re: Opening Day Lineup
If it had to be one or the other, I would much rather have Walker start the first month here and then bye bye if he is hitting the .200 rather than having him at Memphis with his replacement in RF doing decent , then seeing Walker maybe hitting well at Memphis hitting AAA pitching, then being returned after one month and THEN hitting .200 for the next month. Think fanbase would be angrier in the second scenario that the guy who was halfway decent was benched to give Walker another shot after the first month, see him struggle again and fans would say Dang, just when Player X in RF was looking halfway decent he gets benched for Walker . I say let him sink or swim the first month or whatever than down and back.Goldfan wrote: ↑19 Mar 2026 10:49 amAnd so what does Bloom/Oli do with Walker and the spin after he’s lucky to be hitting .200 after a month. That seems a worse predicament then starting at AAArockondlouie wrote: ↑19 Mar 2026 09:53 amFor sure but we both know strum that Oli's going to write in "Walker".Strummer Jones wrote: ↑19 Mar 2026 09:25 amThat's probably about what I'd do, except sub Walker for Church. If it was me, then I'd start him at Memphis.

5. Burl / 1B
6. "V" Man / LF

8. Catcher / Anyone but Herrera - Does it matter?
9. Walker / RF
JJ, Church, and V Man have the potential to make this offense a tougher opponent than the station to station, paint drying, etc of Marmot's BO.

Victor hits before Mid May or goes down. Jordan the same. Gorman has until July 1. Then he gets cut. Herrera at Catcher is where I disagree with most on here. This team like it or not is in a rebuild. This is the time to find out if he can catch or not. If he cleans it up and his work becomes respectable you really have a chance to improve this team. If not what are you out? Is putting him at DH gonna win a Division? Herrrea/ (Church Example) vs Herrera /Pages. Which pair is gonna hit the ball better? Pedro Pages is not a good catcher or a good hitter. I see too much love from Oli and some on here. Release is the answer. I worry that putting JJW at the Top of the lineup may put a bit too much pressure on him starting out. We have seen that happen before. Let him get his feet wet the first month and see how he is responding. Then move him up.

Re: Opening Day Lineup
Among the challenges Herrera presents, is the extremely high likelihood that whenever he catches, he will be removed around the 6th inning during any game in which STL has a slim lead.TheFantasyStud wrote: ↑22 Mar 2026 16:11 pm I’ll be at the game. Hoping for.

In your proposed scenario, that would leave Pages hitting 2nd for the final 3 innings.
One of many reasons why Herrera should DH.
