I prefer Love over gold. Telegraph road has that amazing instrumental part. Making movies is one of my favorites too. I love the song On Every Street by the album of the same title. Probably my favorite song.

So, with that being said, how about Air Supply's Greatest Hits. I remember it was a great album to put me to sleep.
Confession time….my high school girlfriend and I would make out to that album ALL THE TIME.
Obviously Air Supply, not Zappa.

Ok, not talking about all time great records….but what is an album that is your guilty pleasure? In other words, an album that most people would think “Really?” …but you can listen to all the way through.
I’ll start. In the last thread I discussed Asia’s “Alpha”….but now I’m going a little deeper. I was a pretty big “Outfield” fan….everyone knows the entire play deep album…but I always liked their album “Rockeye”….Great stuff. It was the album that contained the song “Winning it All”, but the entire album was always one of my faves.
Neil Diamond's Christmas CDs.

Both those albums are soooo good (sorry moose) but one of my other favs is a live album bootleg I bought in Europe in 1992 called Ticket To Heaven. It has an incredible version of Walk Of Life with an amazing pedal steel riff, sooo good. I believe it was an early 90s concert in Switzerland but I long ago lost the CDs so not sure exactly but I have the recordings in the cloud. I can find a way to share it with you if you are interested. PM me.

A true guilty pleasure for me is Olivia Newton-John. I fell for her as a little kid. I was in second row at the old barn for her Physical tour. There was an HBO special from that tour. I have a Japanese import DVD of that HBO special. She is my second favorite female voice (to Annie Haslam) and is way prettier!

Maybe not a specific album, but Karen Carpenter had a once in a lifetime voice.

For me it’s Brownsville Station. Most underrated band of all time. The album “School Punks” is fantastic. They were so much more than just a “one hit wonder”. Lots of great songs that never got airplay.

I realize it is no masterpiece but "Martian Boogie" is my favorite Brownsville Station song.

Thanks for the thread.

My people , being from East Tennessee, we would travel north on the original Thunder Road, in the early 60s, just over and through the Cumberland Gap at least once a month to Middlesboro Kentucky- to Mema's house- on a little hill just at the Eastern edge of the City Limit. We could gaze at The Pinnacle Mountain clearly from that little rise on her property. There, in her dining room while eating Sunday dinner after Church, we would listen to her 20 year old, beautiful console Radio- all tubes of course. Knoxville was only 50-60 miles south and they played Bluegrass gospel on Sunday Afternoons.. Carter Stanley was still alive, so we heard The Stanley Brothers sing about the High Lonesome love of Jesus, usually leavened by some dreadful cautionary songs of the wayward.

This is my favorite album from that "Angel Band".
One of the times I saw Ralph and his Band was at McCabes Guitar Shop and I called out for "Daniel Prayed". Ralph, who was as deadpan a bluegrass singer as was required , almost broke into a grin. The boys had to rearrange themselves on stage, but they proceeded to bring the Lion's Den into the hall.

I always go with “Lady” (She put the light on)

Good stuff right there.

no worries. I can appreciate that folks have different tastes. I bought Gold when I was in the army and was so disapointed. I DID get Brothers in Arms, and thought i was fantastic. the others... notsomuch

In honor of the Olympics I'll submit a fave song of mine; Tournament of Hearts.

Curling as metaphor for failures at love.

I had forgotten about Eric Johnson. The first time I heard Cliffs of Dover I couldn't believe anyone could play a guitar and make it sing like that. At least that's the impression I get every time I hear it.
