OT: Fleetwood Mac Rumors…but not
OK, that Fleetwood Mac thread was kinda fun…so the fact that there isn’t any Blues hockey on let’s try it again.
Ok, not talking about all time great records….but what is an album that is your guilty pleasure? In other words, an album that most people would think “Really?” …but you can listen to all the way through.
I’ll start. In the last thread I discussed Asia’s “Alpha”….but now I’m going a little deeper. I was a pretty big “Outfield” fan….everyone knows the entire play deep album…but I always liked their album “Rockeye”….Great stuff. It was the album that contained the song “Winning it All”, but the entire album was always one of my faves.

Apostrophe by Frank Zappa, very strange but fun album.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 19:16 pm OK, that Fleetwood Mac thread was kinda fun…so the fact that there isn’t any Blues hockey on let’s try it again.

Hall of the mountain grill - Hawkwind. Where Lemmy started.
Re: OT: Fleetwood Mac Rumors…but not
Foreigner - Records. Not a bad tune on the entire album. They are not my favorite group of all-time, but this album always is a great listen.
Re: OT: Fleetwood Mac Rumors…but not
Brothers in Arms-Dire Straits
Re: OT: Fleetwood Mac Rumors…but not
2112 and Breakfast in America come to mind but maybe too mainstream and not backshelf enough for this thread.
Re: OT: Fleetwood Mac Rumors…but not
St. Anger- Metallica
It is seriously one of my favorite things to do to crank this album while running or working out on the hottest days of the year. Perhaps I'm guilty of sadistic behavior toward myself

Well, there are a couple that are my favorites that aren't exactly main stream, but should be. Most of you are probably unaware of the best band to ever come out of St Louis, but give a listen to Pampered Menial, the debut album by Pavlov's Dog. It is a prog rock masterpiece. And anything by Renaissance. Annie Haslam is the greatest female singer I have ever heard. And her voice is still magnificent live, even at 78 years old.

My brother still has the hots for Annie Haslam and it probably been over 40 years since he say Renaissance in concert.
Alan Parson's Turn of a Friendly Card is one I love from start to finish.

I'm checking out Rockeye right now. Play Deep is one I can listen to once by then quickly get burned out. Feels like every song sounds too much alike for my taste. Icehouse - Measure for Measure is also like that for me.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 19:16 pm OK, that Fleetwood Mac thread was kinda fun…so the fact that there isn’t any Blues hockey on let’s try it again.

Saw Renaissance a couple of times in the 80s at Mississippi Nights. Then a long drought before seeing them at the Wildey Fall on 2024 and again Fall of 2025. Annie is still amazing!keithinwr wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 09:50 amleedog68 wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 09:02 am Well, there are a couple that are my favorites that aren't exactly main stream, but should be. Play Deep was just overplayed Soooo much. I also think that the fact that Tony Lewis had such a distinctive voice kinda makes certain songs sound alike. I think "Rockeye" just sounds different to me. I played the heck out of that CD.keithinwr wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 09:54 amI'm checking out Rockeye right now. Play Deep is one I can listen to once by then quickly get burned out. I don't think anyone puts Zappa in the guilty pleasure category. It's like saying Can's Monster Movie is a guilty pleasure.
So, with that being said, how about Air Supply's Greatest Hits. I remember it was a great album to put me to sleep.
