I would think the off season meeting with Gorman and Walker went something like this.

We're not going to chase down the Dodgers this season so here's the plan.

You're going to get at least 500 AB'S this season come hell or high water. No lefty right [nonsense] splits. Just go out everyday and play, no looking over your shoulder.

That gives you 6 months to figure it out.

See ya in Jupiter.

About what most thought . No surprise there.
Everyone knows day 1 of spring training is everything
Those 4 will be the OD infield. It has been pre-ordained, regardless of how they look in ST.
Everyone knows OD lineup means everything.

(See, works for that too)
I don't know what you're saying.

Exactly as stated by most of us.

However I didn't like Oli's comments that JJW would be getting reps not only at 2B but also 3B and even SS.

Why put so much on the kid when he needs to be anchored at 2B?

He's NOT A SUP!

Morons :x
Because Lil oli is a dumb[ash] who could tear up a steel ball.
Got that right Juan

And now he wants to try Saggese in CF! ::crazya::

One of the worst we've ever seen setting a lineup and his batting order.
I do not understand this organization's obsession with playing guys out of position. I thought it was Mozeliak being lazy and not filling needs. Now I think it is Dewitt being cheap.

Me neither.

It's like Oli wants a full squad of SUP's so he can move them all over the field like chess pieces. ::crazya::

Gorman came up as a 3B, Winn as a SS, Wetherholt can play a 3 positions on the IF, and Burley has proven he can play 1B so who is playing out of position? Furthermore, Fermin is an ideal utility player that can play both OF and IF.

This is not unique to Oli, or the Cardinals. Every team, from the Dodgers to the Rays are seeking to move players around. If you are not a starting position player, you almost have to move around to get a roster spot.

Its fine to have a couple of players who can play multiple positions, even advantageous.

But the Cardinals under Oli have taken this to the extreme, some examples:

WillyC--C/1B
Gorman--2B/3B
Donny--2B/3B/LF (okay)
Burly--LF/RF/1B
Edman-2B/SS/CF (okay)
Hererra--C/LF
Saggese--2B/3B/now OF (okay)

In some cases, sure. But a team loaded w/players playing all over the field isn't optimal.

JMO but having most all of your players with set positions makes a helluva lot more sense than moving players from position to position does.

The point here though is JJW is NOT one of those players you move all over the diamond, you anchor him to 2nd base and watch the all-star appearances (hopefully) roll in.

Yeah. Winn has EARNED SS. JJ NEEDS to be at 2nd. Burleson is the DEFAULT 1B. Gorman is the guy they WANT to play 3B.
