Can there be a difference. I’d say you can have a clubhouse guy, and an outside guy.

Right now, I would say Scouty is right. Someone will emerge by season's end. Noot is head cheerleader, but that isn't what we are talking about. That said, none of us know what goes on in the clubhouse...

Second question first. Yes you need a clubhouse man and a franchise man- I would think often the same guy.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 09:37 amOk. You might have Judge as the man on the cover, the franchise guy, with Soto, as your clubhouse guy. Meaning multiple leaders on a team.
As for who ours are- I see Scott or Winn in the clubhouse, and JJ as your franchise.

Can’t see what is not there.
Can’t wait until someone says JJ.

I did. Reference clubhouse of young kids, i can see Scott or Winn, doesn’t take long to age into a roll.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 09:51 amThey already did..along with Winn and Scott
As for pitcher on the cover of the rolling stone, it’s the all hyped no action JJ.
Just the way it is.

Face of the franchise: Potentially, Winn and Wetherholt. Respected team leader: Alec Burleson. Especially, with Donovan gone.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 09:55 amI did. What I find interesting, is that a couple of years ago, this was an issue of concern. You had, supposedly, both, Arenado and Goldschmidt asking the club to bring in somebody to help out in this area. The club resigned Matt Carpenter and Brandon Crawford to address this. They also signed Lance Lynn, and Kyle Gibson. Now, they have traded away every player that might have fulfilled this role and brought in, NO ONE ! Donovan was the obvious choice for this role, but when they traded him they didn’t even bring back anyone that will be on the 26 man in the next two years.
As stated Nootbaar is more of a cheerleader, not the same thing as a team leader. Burleson doesnt strike me as being one either, he’s more of the type that NEEDS someone to help show him the way! I like Herrera, and eventually good be a good one, but he’s still figuring his way through, and doesn’t need that added pressure.
I really think this is where Jon Jay, DeScalso, and Stubby have to try and fill this need, but it isn’t the same when they are Coaches.
The pitching staff has no one to help guide the young starters, and only Stanek for the bullpen. He’s kinda iffy for me.
Now that Spring Training has started, it’s almost too late to bring in someone now. I think this an error on Bloom’s part, and not his first of the off season!

"Burleson doesnt strike me as being one either, he’s more of the type that NEEDS someone to help show him the way!" That's wrong and rather laughable.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 10:03 amWhat I find interesting, is that a couple of years ago, this was an issue of concern. Re: Do the Cards have a clubhouse leader or a face of the franchise?
I know this is premature scouty but I think by seasons end JJW could be the "face of the franchise".
As far as the clubhouse I don't see a true leader.
But I'd guess Bumbles and Noot will be the loudest voices in the clubhouse along w/M. Winn.
In the pitchers corner, it seems like Libby is trying to take the lead.
Slim pickins' indeed.

Burleson is far from being a loud voice. He is, however, a very popular and respected team mate by many fellow players. Ex.Jordan Walker.rockondlouie wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 10:16 amI know this is premature scouty but I think by seasons end JJW could be the "face of the franchise".

Loudest voices doesn't refer to volume rather a voice of leadership.Shady wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 10:22 amBurleson is far from being a loud voice.
