Im not interested in helping Montreal out. I’d rather let Binnington rebound in 2026 then trade him for a different bum goalie and a non-defined package of draft picks which may or may not equate to a pick in the mid-twenties.

Re: Binnington rumor
Do you know MTL's thoughts on Xhekaj? I thought he was someone they would not easily give up. Wouldn't mind him at allhockey jedi wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 17:12 pm It is fun to predict, for sure. I can't see Montreal wanting to dismantle their team and team chemistry with a big trade. I could see a prospect, pick and salary dump back. For us, it would have to be a gold chip prospect.
What's the story on Dach? Weren't Habs fans trying to run him out of town? Not sure we'd want him, but I don't know the full story on his decline. He's shown as RW on their top line on puckpedia. Injury fill in? Showing off for a trade? Speculating.
Anyways, we could just retain on Binner and take Monembeault, Fowler, and picks back. Is this even a real rumor?

This.
It'd be one thing if Hofers numbers were good; then you could lay the poor outcomes on Binnington. But Hofer having simply less bad numbers just means he's better at bailing out a terrible team - doesnt mean he's the better goalie or has the higher upside.
The fact that both goalies have GAAs north of 3 and save pcts shy of 91 tells me they both get a free pass and the system or personnel or both are to blame.

What I was saying was that if he played in the Olympics like he played last year in the Four Nations, that I would want that kind of return, or we'd just keep him. I am looking for an overpayment to move him. It's not worth it to trade him for a 2nd round pick. I think he will find his game again.Wattage wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 17:26 pmwhy would a goalie in his 30s in decline and among worst stats in league being far oztplayed by the ither goalie on his team return a gold chip prospect? seriously. i love what binny did for us in winning a cup but some of yall are delusional.hockey jedi wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 17:12 pm It is fun to predict, for sure. Drove under an overpass today that was spray-painted, "Joanie loves Chachie," therefore Loch Ness monster is real.

Re: Binnington rumor
The Blues around 10th in the league in the defensive metrics. It’s the offense that’s below average and goaltending that’s VERY below average. Like, almost twice as bad as the 31st place team level of below average.
Also, to the OP, this isn’t a rumor. It’s a what if scenario.
Re: Binnington rumor
Disagree.
Zherenko is a pending UFA(mathematically impossible for him to retain RFA status at this point). If he's going to get a shot at all, it has to be this year(and I happen to think we at least owe him a shot, even if we don't decide to re-up him for next year).
We only have 25 games left in the season and only 3 remaining sets of back to back games(goes to 21 games and 2 back to backs after the trade deadline). That is as sheltered a scenario as you could hope for to give a rookie goalie a cup of coffee.
Re: Binnington rumor
hes older. i could see him having a better season than this next year but not a year that is really worth his cap hit. and im not even sure it matters cuz i dont think he resign him and plan on him being a backup or at least 1b with us clearly grooming hofer as future starter.hockey jedi wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 19:31 pmWhat I was saying was that if he played in the Olympics like he played last year in the Four Nations, that I would want that kind of return, or we'd just keep him. and i dont think nhl gms are gonna weight a small international tournament over the whole nhl season evem if he has hot tournament.
Re: Binnington rumor
I don't think they'll move Jordan this year. My guess is they will hold onto him rather than sell for less right now.
They could easily believe he will rebound as well. And he's not just any Blues player, he has added value for this franchise.

Re: Binnington rumor
Oh I think they will for sure, if he goes out and gives Canada a big game performance teams will value that for sure IMO. I'm not sure he is even gonna get a chance to do that though.Wattage wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 21:47 pmhes older. i could see him having a better season than this next year but not a year that is really worth his cap hit. and im not even sure it matters cuz i dont think he resign him and plan on him being a backup or at least 1b with us clearly grooming hofer as future starter.hockey jedi wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 19:31 pmWhat I was saying was that if he played in the Olympics like he played last year in the Four Nations, that I would want that kind of return, or we'd just keep him. Re: Binnington rumor
Thank you. Binny and Hofer aren't the only players on this team who are in second to last place in the NHL. We can acomplish that without any of them.
Re: Binnington rumor
The fact is Binner is no longer the starter. He has 1 shutout and Hofer has 4. Hofer has high 2's GAA and Binner is like 3.4GAA. Hofer has a better record and looks ok. Both play in front of the same team. Hofer is clearly the better goalie now. Hofer is just scratching the surface. The stats prove it. Believe your own eyes as well.
Mike McKenna made real sense today on 101.
Return in goalies is usually much lower. Maybe a pick. Not 1st.
Lot of questions about Binner and all the losing. All the losing and all the goals against do make him less tradeable regardless of his past accomplishments.
Re: Binnington rumor
sorry 3.65 GAA 864 save % Binner 8 -17- 6; 1 shutout
Hofer
2.94GAA 895 SAve% ; 12-11-3; 4 shutouts
not the same season. Cant blame it on the d.

Re: Binnington rumor
I would guess Binner is a lot like ORY- if the team around him is "not committed", he can check out.
Re: Binnington rumor
Did he check out vs Dallas last game?Harry York 37 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2026 14:26 pm I would guess Binner is a lot like ORY- if the team around him is "not committed", he can check out.
Or did he just show signs that he flat out doesnt have it. Check out? I think not. Hes not seeing the puck. Hes not saving shots that should be saved.
I hope we move on. I want to remember Stanley Cup Binner--not this garbage,
