Re: Binnington rumor
Unless that pick is a 1st rounder and a high prospect, why would the Blues want Montembeault? Literally ZERO reason to trade for another goalie, especially one signed thru next season.
Re: Binnington rumor
If you trade #50, you need an NHL caliber goalie from somewhere, and it would help make the money work...
Re: Binnington rumor
Why would anyone in their right mind trade for Binner?
Team Canada--There is no way he plays for them in the Olympics....Is there?
Hes been awful. He has no value. zero.
IMHO. He will ride out his contract. or we may have to offload him somehow in offseason.
Past performance cant outweigh his pure dogsh&t season. I like him as a human.
He has been abysmal, horrid, terrible--whatever word you want to use.''

Hofer hasn't been very good lately either. Maybe, just maybe, it's the IDGAF team in front of him.BluesDom wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 16:44 pm Why would anyone in their right mind trade for Binner?

Binner had a solid defensive system in front of him in 2019. Now, not so much.

Re: Binnington rumor
I’d take this deal and run. If he gets an opportunity in the Olympics and plays well enough maybe we can turn that 2nd rounder into a first.

Re: Binnington rumor
I like Binner. I think he has suffered like the whole team from being collectively mentally weak. I totally appreciate everything he's done for Blues. However, Binner replicating the Four Nations type play in the Olympics would send his value soaring and get the Blues a nice return. Just like Thomas, we don't need to trade him, but would if an overpayment is coming our way. It would send the message to the NHL that he gets bored in meaningless regular season games, but locks in for the big games.

Stats tell a story. Its not a fluke. Stats dont lie. Its the d somewhat for both goalers. However--one guy has better numbers clearly==similar number of games.
--Hofer is 2.94 GAA .896 save %; 12 11 and 3 4 Shutouts
not great
Jordan 3.65 GAA .864 Save %; 8 17 and 6 1 shutout
Much much worse.

Re: Binnington rumor
I thought it came out that Binner had every Canadian team on his NTC list? I’m probably wrong. Either way, I’ll play along. If you’re gonna trade him, make it worthwhile and help out the Habs too.
To STL: Montembeault, Xhekaj, Dach, 2026 2nd, Laine
To MTL: Binner & Suter
We get a tough, 3rd pairing LD that we lack, a still youngish but big 3C, a cheaper goalie for a couple years, and a 2nd rounder. Laine contract expires at year end and we just use Krug LTIR to cover most of it for 20 games.
They get their messiah goalie, good defensive center to replace Dach, and lots of cap space (Laine) to make other trades for their future.
Make believe trade land is fun when you’re bored.

Re: Binnington rumor
It is fun to predict, for sure. I can't see Montreal wanting to dismantle their team and team chemistry with a big trade. I could see a prospect, pick and salary dump back. For us, it would have to be a gold chip prospect.
Re: Binnington rumor
why would blues want binnjngton. hes clearly in decljne. any pixk id say is a plus. monetmbeault and binny are both having down years. both have 1 more year but while binnys salary would be high for a backup montembeault wouldnt be as he is much cheaper..smilinjoefission wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 16:09 pm Unless that pick is a 1st rounder and a high prospect, why would the Blues want Montembeault? if they throw a pick- theres no reason not to do that swap for blzes. its risky for habs cuz they may have just traded for a goalje to struggle equally to monty while costing thwm more cap space next year and adding a pick.

Because occasionally athletes have bad seasons. Also Canada doesn't have anyone better.BluesDom wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 16:44 pm Why would anyone in their right mind trade for Binner?

Re: Binnington rumor
why would a goalie in his 30s in decline and among worst stats in league being far oztplayed by the ither goalie on his team return a gold chip prospect? seriously. i love what binny did for us in winning a cup but some of yall are delusional.hockey jedi wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 17:12 pm It is fun to predict, for sure. Re: Binnington rumor
Do you think we could get a fourth rounder for Binnington?
Re: Binnington rumor
Logan thompson will start. He’s better. There’s nothing occasional about his play. He’s had a rough few years.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 17:25 pmBecause occasionally athletes have bad seasons. Re: Binnington rumor
Really risky to judge a goaltender when the team in front of him is really bad defensively. Kinda thought last season would make this apparent in Binner's case.
