I heard Bloom talking yesterday about Tai Peete. He said that the Cardinals feel that there are things that can be done to help cut his strikeouts. I hope the new people working in the Cardinals organization can do the same for Gorman. If he can cut his strikeouts, he could potentially hit 30 home runs and drive in 100 rbi's.
Please don’t misconstrue this as to me saying he’s going to be Schwarber. It’s just to illustrate that it is not uncommon for young sluggers to take some time to get their traction. Power bats like his are rare.

TGKS missed his entire year 23 season due to blowing out his knee colliding with Fowler. Tore ACL and LCL….
So not only did miss that time…..some thought he wouldn’t make it back. These stories are not the same.

...and what are they prepared to do if they don't like what they see?
Answer : They probably would be looking to move him at the trade deadline would be my guess especially if Saggese shows he can do OK . If no takers at Aug. 1st , then Bloom would put him on the trade block next winter either as solo or minor part of a package deal.

It happens, but it isn't all that common. Off the top of my head I think of Jose Bautista and JD Martinez as other examples. Others?
Saw this quote from Bloom in Hochman's article today:
It felt to me — and I think just talking to him — that he was not rock solid enough in what that identity of the best him at the plate looked like. And so, when things did not go his way, he started searching, he started chasing stuff, and that kind of caught him between most of the season and didn't really produce.
Don't get me wrong, I am not down on Bloom and am giving him a chance, but that word salad is equivocation writ large. Distill it to simpler terms and you get "Gorman doesn't know how to hit." Perhaps that's the reason he has never hit and likely never will. I hope I'm wrong on Gorman but I suspect he'll be somewhere else long before the autumn leaves fall.
He will be given the third base job and written in the lineup until July at least to give him a proper run as a starter and see if he can improve production. I've posted this before, but there have been a few young sluggers (guys like Shea Langeliers and Jo Adell) who recently changed their approach to cut down on strikeouts and make more consistent contact. The result has been better production. But usually guys who strike out 30% of the time don't see a lot of improvement in that area and end up out of the league. I still hold some hope for both Gorman and Walker, but that hope definitely took a hit in 2025.

That’s not his only word salad…..He’s Mo Jr. at this point…as far as communicating
Gorman has had almost 4 MLB seasons to get comfortable….or figure out how to hit.
Last season they closed his stance attempting to keep the barn door from flying open every swing…..he had no power so he went back to open stance.
He can’t stay on the ball, when he rarely does it jumps off his bat.
Definitely his make or break year (or 1/2 year ) for the Cardinals. If he doesn't cut it , Bloom will send him packing ..Gorman knows this is his last shot here.
Doesn't mean he wouldn't catch on with someone else but long gone from Busch Stadium.

Obviously it wouldn't help the strikeouts, but he would hit a ton of homers in Coors, or Sacramento, or Yankee stadium. If we just cut him loose, can't you just see the Brewers picking him up and him mashing for them?

Curious, what would you expect L'chaim to say? "Tai is a big K guy and he is stuck in his ways so expect a continuation of lots of strikeouts."
He should have never made the team out of spring training last year. He was gifted a roster spot and didn't make the most of his opportunity.
Now people want to gift him another chance? He better knock the mf cover off the ball this spring. I don't want to hear he's 'working on things' either.
It's the big leagues man.
Unable to open the link but I get the idea from the other posts.
Sadly....Gorman has periodic stretches where he does very well. And every time is because he drives the ball hard the other way.
And he clearly has the power.
With all the “analytics” and such I still wonder what coaches and players talk about between games????
How hard is it to study 4 AB’s per game and put 2+2 together?

Saggese has to be next, if he doesn't beat him out from the start.
That is sort of the issue I have. Will others get a chance? How long is Gorman’s leash before someone else gets a serious look. I hope Gorman is the guy but I’m not wanting to ride this out too long.
