2 OF prospects that signed for under slot and haven't hit in the minors, plus an under 6 ft tall RH pitcher, which almost always means future reliever.

The Comp B draft pick is effectively a 3rd round draft pick, so meh.

I’ll wait until we get all the confirmed deals and hopefully some smart person on CT will calculated the trade values so we can see the math behind this deal. But I am feeling really, really disappointed. Partially because my expectations were probably too high; partially because I hate to see Donovan go and mainly because I don’t see this deal helping our offense in the near future.

I’ll now go to my room and continue my pity party.

Everyone seems to be commenting without viewing the ENTIRE trade .

The Cardinals are also getting Seattle's Round B Competivie Balance pick in the 2026 draft . It's the FIRST pick immediately after the 2nd round .

So the final trade seems to be Cijntje, Peete, Ledbetter (from Rays) and Seattles 70th pick (right after Round 2 ) .

Cardinals get Rays 24th ranked pick ... Colton Ledbetter in the deal too ..

Ledbetter has no one oustanding tool but very good all around OF player. Nice addition to the trade .

Cijntje had a 2.67 ERA over his first 33 innings at AA last season.

Ledbetter also stole 37 bases at AA last season.

If they both start at AAA this season and keep improving or at least carry those numbers up the ladder ... meh, I guess we'll see.

Would have preferred a single top-30 prospect for Donny but, with the accumulation of talent Bloom's brought in, hopefully a few of them hit. Of course, with this org, who the h*ll knows...

It seems like a fair trade for Donovan. Cijntje has been out there from the beginning. Other names or wants have been tossed around. Montes, Arroyo have been mentioned but we end up with Peete and Ledbetter. I was hoping for a Comp A pick (top 50) but end up with a Comp B pick (top 75).

Cijntje is a top 100 prospect. Peete has had some struggles but has some tools. Ledbetter is a lottery ticket and the Comp B pick allows us a shot at a pretty good player. As Crav said that gives us 5 picks in the top 85. The kind of return we should actually receive.
