Don't know much about the stuff in the locker room, but at times this year the team has definitely gone into the 'going-through-the-motions' where the bench just goes silent and they just seem to play shifts on auto-pilot. JR and a few opposing writers have made mention of it, so i believe it to be a problem of the team for most of the season not being able to pick itself up and get back on the push to start playing hard against the opposition.
I do think it's plausible for the team to have done better with one more glue guy on the bench or in the locker room with experience. I think that ship has kinda sailed though, not enough time left to make that work. And really, outside of O'Reilly there isn't much out there in either of the two positions we would want (RD and C) as far as available veteran leadership, so i think it's time to just wait out the season and sell rather than buy.
I am at least happy to see the team kinda get away from worrying about defense so much. It does allow for more goals against, but the team's style of play being more forward focused has started to reap benefits in the goals department.

100-percent correct. Some of the extrapolations here must be born of mushrooms.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 13:36 pm and I find it funny because not one person here knows what goes on or is said in the locker room or behind the scenes
And Montgomery has repeated that he wants players to learn how to be a Blue on and off the ice. I'm presuming he's made that clear with the team.

"Extrapolations" are based on, admittedly, irrational interpretations of Schenn's quiet, somewhat demure demeanor on the ice--when he isn't running someone or trying to throw down.blues2112 wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 17:16 pm100-percent correct. But all that really matters are the results. Which show that, outside of a 2-month stretch last season, the team's been wildly inconsistent since Schenn became captain. Is he the reason? Probably not. But regardless, as of now, his leadership's definitely not the answer.

Schenn's "leadership" is why Binnington has been suspect? Parayko an enigma? Hmm, all won a Cup.
Hockey is complex; dumping on Schenn's "leadership" for Blues record is unvalidated, without evidence, without data, without attestation, without sources.
Believe what validates your dogma.

Ummmm... derp!... yeah, you're just arguing any and everything for argument's sake. You can play devil's advocate all you want. Doesn't change the only important fact: since Schenn became captain, Blues have not become a better team. Yawn... now you've bored me.blues2112 wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 21:42 pmYour comments contradict themselves many times.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 20:50 pm"Extrapolations" are based on, admittedly, irrational interpretations of Schenn's quiet, somewhat demure demeanor on the ice--when he isn't running someone or trying to throw down.blues2112 wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 17:16 pm100-percent correct. Schenn as captain is the only reason, therefore the singular cause?blackinkbiz wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 22:12 pm Ummmm... derp!... yeah, you're just arguing any and everything for argument's sake.
