IMO when the ball lands in play the runner has to be running hard while thinking it's a double or triple and you are going for it.

You don't pull up to soon with this mindset.

Most Cards runner don't appear to be busting (bleep) to extend the play.

And there it is. You gotta think triple to get a triple. It’s from the first step out of the box.

Nor can batters think every fly ball is a home run. Or in VSII case, think you are a homerun hitter.

How many times have we seen batters trot, jog, or gaze at the ball out of the batter's box then realize the ball is still in play and settle for a double?

I saw zero games in 2025 but I did see Lou Brock hit a triple once - to left field. Most exciting player I ever saw.

In 81 home games, it happened just 3 times . For the season (home & away ) ,the Cardinals had a total of 9 triples. Dead last in all of MLB
In our own division , here is how many triples each team had for their HOME games
Cubs 18 Pirates 14 Brewers 12 Reds 10 Cardinals 3

for the season , Cubs 29 , Reds 23 , Pirates 21 , Brewers 18 , Cardinals 9

How does 9 compare to all the National League teams ? Well, the 2nd worst team had 18 (Padres )

Do we lack extra base hits to gaps, corners etc. Not really , the Cardinals ranked 6th in doubles in all of MLB.
Lack of top speed ? Does our 3rd base coach lack aggressiveness to waive the runner to 3rd ?
Do some hitters not bust it out of the box on gapper or corner hit ball ?

We had/have a team of sloths. Contreras, Nado, Burley, Pozo, Pages, Crooks, Gorman.

Plus a lot of guys that can't hit. Bad combo.

I don't know how many remember Willie Davis. When he played with the Cardinals he was in his late 30's. He hit a pop up down the left field line, the third baseman, SS and LF all went for the ball. When it landed Davis was standing third. At that age he could still run.

I had to look that up. Fastest time from home to 3rd is 10.87 by Corbin Carrol. Longest hang time on a home run is 7.04 seconds by judge. Pop ups are typically 5 seconds.
But hey, I walked to school uphill both ways in the snow on 100° day. Getting old is a hell of a thing.

and regarding HR's the longest HR hit by a Cardinal in 2025 was Burleson who hit a 443 ft homer in Arizona

That 443 ft homer was dead last in the NL Central . The other 4 teams longest HR were : 471, 466, 465. and 451 You can look up the names if you wish but even the few HR's we had there wasn't a real long one.
