What if they are willing to give the cardinals prospects to take him?
Not a rebuild kind of guy.
Which is why he is a low $$ 'gift' from the Phillies for one year. He is strikely an offensive flier, whom if he retains any form you flip at midseason. At worst, if you get him for taking on 2M+ of his salary, you are not out much if he is Fedde level mediocre.

Just know they need pop somewhere to avoid risking a disaster season.

Not far from it in the OF, esp if Donovan is traded

The word around Philly is that he will be released before the season. Wait and sign him to a minor contract for the year, if you want him.
Like a Fedde is released type trade? The closer you get to the season, the more likely you get him on a Fowler to the Angels deal in case any other team has a similar idea

They want to lose him like we did Arenado. He can play OF and if he rebounds a little gives us pop that can be flipped at the trade deadline.

We needed to clear out clutter at 3B anyway. But the OF is dicey at best. If Donovan is moved we lose an OF option.

There was some rational in an Arenado trade for him.
Now I don't see it at all. You'd need to change my opinion.

Him outplaying our current cOF'ers would only mean that
1. the current cOFers failed
2. a current backup didn't get an opportunity
3. Calling Nick an OFer is generous. He had a -12 OAA in RF, Burleson had -4 in the OF
in about half of the innings.

Does anyone remember a few years ago when Castellanos flexed at home plate, while standing over one of our over-matched AAAA pitchers, after scoring a run.
Yes, it was Woodford. Castellanos is a PUNK!
Yes, total punk. At the time though, he was one of the hotter RH hitters in the NL.
and now he is awful
