Castellanos for a some Ted Drewes
In other words, an excuse of a return and the Phillies covering 17M+ of his salary.
They want to lose him like we did Arenado. He can play OF and if he rebounds a little gives us pop that can be flipped at the trade deadline.
We needed to clear out clutter at 3B anyway. But the OF is dicey at best. If Donovan is moved we lose an OF option.

Re: Castellanos for a some Ted Drewes
Castellanos is EXACTLY the kind of player (regression/age) that Cardinals will stay far, far away from.

The word around Philly is that he will be released before the season. Wait and sign him to a minor contract for the year, if you want him.Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 07:55 amWhat if they are willing to give the cardinals prospects to take him?

He's almost the worst defensive outfielder in major league baseball. and his offense is fading bad. why would you want him?RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 00:14 am In other words, an excuse of a return and the Phillies covering 17M+ of his salary.

You only sign a player like this if you are 100% totally desperate to fill a roster. We aren’t there yet. YET!

Does anyone remember a few years ago when Castellanos flexed at home plate, while standing over one of our over-matched AAAA pitchers, after scoring a run.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 00:14 am In other words, an excuse of a return and the Phillies covering 17M+ of his salary.

Yes, total punk. At the time though, he was one of the hotter RH hitters in the NL.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 12:50 pmYes, it was Woodford.
