In the 1st period he was activating to join the rush and I think it was Torpo turned the puck over and it ended in a goal for the Kings. Each time a play like that ends in a goal I’m sure it knocks him back down a bit. I liked his awareness to pass the puck to Kyrou. Now I’d like to see #23 start taking some hard shots at the net.
He also makes hard, crisp passes, unlike almost every other blue who wants to saucer pass or drop pass or behind the back pass on every play.

I'm glad that we have Mailloux on our team. I'm actually looking forward to when Kessel can be let go and we have Tucker fighting to get back into the regular lineup. (And I actually like Tucker.) Sure I'd be happy if we had Rasmus Dahlin or Matthew Schaefer, but we don't.
I'd really be happy if we had another legitimately well-above average Center (actually make that two) since one of our best is reluctant to shoot and MAY be injury prone. Right now our best Centerman who is willing to hustle, check, can pass and has a very good shot is showing why he was a Top 10 pick.

I originally hated the trade. Called the new kid Maalox because his play gave me indigestion. But those noting LM’s passing and shot are on point by my eye test: consistently crisp and/or ahead of the player (north). What I observed early on were forwards making half-a attempts to receive those darts from flat-footed starts, and unsurprisingly missing the puck.

It became clear after a while it was a forward problem, not an LM problem. (It was so frequent a conspiracy theorist might have believed it was intentional. Cough cough 89…)

I think he’s turning a very wide corner, and feel this time next year we’ll mostly be pleased with his game.

I've heard more then once that the NHL isn't a learning league.
For most.

But I'm glad he is getting opportunities others with more skill didn't and isn't. There should be spots open to prospects just about every year. We usually wait to long to bring them up and don't give them the opportunities before they become free agents.

Mailx doesn't seem to know what or why he does stuff. But he kinda does stuff. I think he'll figure it out. Just like I think a few other under 22yo could come up and figure it out. Probably sooner, probably better. If the right guy would of had a boner.
