Re: Who is buying tickets for 2026
Honestly, it’s about price at this point. If the rates to watch a $70M team play are priced at their 2026 Salary Obligations of around $150M, then no.
If the prices are equivalent to when the team was fielding a team around +$180M team; which was loaded with Allstars, Longtime Favorites, Future Hall of Famers, and actual Playoff Contrntion like they were 4 years ago, then no.
This team has almost nothing to draw me to the ballpark. There’s no Yadi, Waino, and Pujols riding into the sunset. There’s no Goldschmidt & Arenado star power reeking havoc in the middle of the lineup nor creating highlight reel plays on the diamond. There isn’t even a cool ‘Hells Bells’ Closer Intro like atmosphere.
What is it I’m exactly would I or anyone at the ballpark be spending money on, a new executive in a luxury box?

If I were visiting STL I would be the same as I did last year and every other time I'm in STL during baseball season... but not this year.

I will definitely be going to a lot of games maybe 50 or so. It's still MLB baseball in a beautiful MLB park and I love baseball! I grew up on going to a lot of minor league games, it was always fun to go and didn't really care who won. A big plus this season for me is I might be able to get way better tickets and be up close for the same prices. Might actually end up spending more. Cards baseball is the best value entertainment in the world, and the value is probably going to be even better this season.
Who has green seats for less than $150? I'm buying!

2 party packs of tickets, plus an extra 8 tickets for every game. I go to Ballpark village before and after every game, I want to support the owners. They are really struggling to make ends meet, we all should be helping them!

Curious what part you feel they aren’t being honest about currently.CCard wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026 20:41 pmNo way in hell I'm dropping that kind of money when ownership won't pony up. I fully agree that prior to this offseason they were not and were instead extremely cavalier and arrogant about providing the true goals.
I have found them extremely straight forward this offseason. While I don’t agree with everything being done this offseason, I wasn’t left feeling they were being dishonest.

I like baseball and I'm a Cardinals fan, so I'll go to 4 or 5 games.

They're being dishonest about their tanking. There's no reason a team can't field a decent roster and still do all the modifications they talked about. It's simply tanking. It's a terrible way to treat fans that support the team.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 11:42 amCurious what part you feel they aren’t being honest about currently.CCard wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026 20:41 pmNo way in hell I'm dropping that kind of money when ownership won't pony up. Define decent roster. My concern is what you are looking for leaves the team in a constant cycle of mediocrity.CCard wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 12:52 pmThey're being dishonest about their tanking. If close enough, I would most definitely go. I still think they are going to play fun baseball. Would be especially exciting if Baez were to tear it up and get an early shot.
I stand by my opinion that they'll be at least as good as the 25 team.

What would you have added to make the 2026 Cardinals a serious World Series contender that was realistic?CCard wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 13:20 pmWell, if you consider two world championships a cycle of mediocrity.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 13:13 pmDefine decent roster. Pitching is king. Always has been always will be. They could have added top tier pitching. They should have jettisoned Pallante and Mikolas. That would have been a good start.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 17:43 pmWhat would you have added to make the 2026 Cardinals a serious World Series contender that was realistic?CCard wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 13:20 pmWell, if you consider two world championships a cycle of mediocrity.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 13:13 pmDefine decent roster. I bought tickets for spring training. Have to get my spring training fix. I imagine I'll go to a game or so at Busch in 2026.
