It took nearly an entire page before our SEMO troll found a way to attack Mizzou in this thread.

The primary advantage is SLU is led by an accomplished coach, when compared to Mizzou - he has yet to display his coaching acumen.

It's just not logical to compare apples to oranges. And that's what we have here. The Billikens have not played a ranked team and never will during the regular season. Florida would kill them.knttiger wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 11:22 amAnd LSU was winless in the conference and was missing two STARTERS when we came to town Sat, and still beat us by double digits. Billikens are a more complete basketball team at this point than Mizzou is. We play them 5 times, I'd guess we'd win once or twice. Yes, they play in a weaker conference than us, but they're by far the best team in it. I'm no cheerleader for SLU, but come on man, they're not losing by 50 to anyone. Watch them play and you'll see a well-coached team with good balance, a big man who is a difference maker, a Mizzou legacy who should be playing for us, and good shooters on the court. I'd be happy to swap jerseys with them and let them finish out the season for us.icon wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 10:08 amMissouri didn't have 2 of its best players in that game. And Missouri has beaten Florida, which looks like it could be a Final Four team right now. The Billikens might lose by 50 to them. And Missouri beat Kentucky at Rupp Arena. The Billikens ain't doing that. They haven't even played a ranked team and never will this year. Missouri has already played 5 ranked teams.2forDiving wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 08:28 amThey wouldn’t lose by 40 to Illinois.icon wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 23:06 pmIt's easy to look great against bad teams. Not a team anyone will want to see in the first 2 rounds of the ncaa tournament and scherz is a VERY good coach.

+1. And he either targeted guys in the portal to compliment his style or he adapted his style to the guys he recruited. Would SLU only have one loss with Mizzou’s schedule? Nope. But does Mizzou only have one loss with SLU’s schedule. Nope.
Re: I heard SLU projected as a 7th seed in the Big Dance and Mizzou not in
hahaha....no, they wouldn't. Their ONE loss was a one in million miracle play to beat them against a very good team.2forDiving wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 08:28 amThey wouldn’t lose by 40 to Illinois.icon wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 23:06 pmIt's easy to look great against bad teams. Icon it's pretty funny the weight you put on beating the ranked teams when the team you trash is...a ranked team. They are 17-1 and ranked #24. Their schedule weight is very much a part of why they are only #24. No one is arguing right now that they should be #10.
Have you watched them play? They do almost everything well. They shoot the basketball and it goes in. They make free throws, they play good D and they substitute players like clockwork. And they are very well coached.
But all this who beat who stuff is always silly. No matter who they play it doesn't change it...SLU has a better than decent team and right now, they have earned their ranking IMO.

Frankly, from what I've seen, SLU would be very competitive in this season's SEC. SLU is very talented, has a deep bench and are very fundamentally sound. It sure would be fun to see a Mizzou/SLU match up this season.winonsports wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 09:50 amOn the P5 level Mizzou beat Minnesota by 23.
Minnesota lost to Stanford by four, the day before the Cardinal beat SLU.

Got to watch SLU last night for the 1st time this season. They’re good. I’ve said forever we should play them annually. Most years we’d win. A few years SLU would win. This is one of those years it would potentially be a classic.
It could even turn into a rivalry, which IMHO is great for all of us.

When SLU discovers it's the 21st Century, and schools like them are playing schools like Mizzou in NBA/NHL arenas, then Mizzou will schedule SLU a home and home, Mizzou Arena and Enterprise Center

Agree on all points. Two things can be true - SLU can play in a weak conference and have a really good team. They are really good, IMO.knttiger wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 11:22 amAnd LSU was winless in the conference and was missing two STARTERS when we came to town Sat, and still beat us by double digits.
