A lot of things can change between now and selection time.
Re: I heard SLU projected as a 7th seed in the Big Dance and Mizzou not in
If they're a 7, I'd bet the house on the 10 seed. The A10 is trash.
Re: I heard SLU projected as a 7th seed in the Big Dance and Mizzou not in
Lunardi has them as an 8 seed and Missouri was not listed in the next 8 out. They were in the first four out last poll though so still on the fringe.

Let them play and find out.
SLU is no joke and neither is Schertz.
I think the Missouri team can get in if coach can mix the right guys at right times which from my observation only would say to come off his present coaching plan and make better reads and use the hook a lot more than he does.
And I'm not saying it's all on him I'm saying almost the opposite he has to jockey these guys based on their abilities and consistency as players or lack there of game to game.

Anyone who thinks that SLU is a joke just hasn’t seen them play. No one says they are Duke but they are a fun watch. They go 9-10 deep and they play at a difficult pace to keep up with.
You have to wonder what Gates was looking at in the portal to bring in the guys in he did then look at the portal acquisitions that Scherz brought in.

After losing what should have been winnable games at Mississippi and LSU there's not a lot of margin for error.

SLU will get in with a great record in a weak league. Missouri will be licking their wounds after finishing near the bottom of the league screaming, "wait til next year!"

The Billikens beat mighty Duquesne tonight by 4. Yay! Look at their opponents. Not 1 good one.

watch slu play -- they play 9-10 guys and have multiple players who play multiple positions -- they share the ball well and play solid D, they are certainly beatable but they typically don't beat themselves. Not a team anyone will want to see in the first 2 rounds of the ncaa tournament and scherz is a VERY good coach.

It's easy to look great against bad teams. And that's what they play.greyhawk wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 23:00 pm watch slu play -- they play 9-10 guys and have multiple players who play multiple positions -- they share the ball well and play solid D, they are certainly beatable but they typically don't beat themselves. SLU has a net of 22 -- 6 games into their conf schedule -- MU is at 67 also 6 games into their schedule. That is comparing apples to oranges right now but you can only play who lines up across from you. I have watched both, MU may have a few better elite athletes but SLU plays better as a team. that certainly can change as it is only 1/20.icon wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 23:06 pmIt's easy to look great against bad teams. They get in. They don't get in. What's the difference. It would be a first round loss again anyway.

They wouldn’t lose by 40 to Illinois.icon wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 23:06 pmIt's easy to look great against bad teams. Missouri didn't have 2 of its best players in that game. And Missouri has beaten Florida, which looks like it could be a Final Four team right now. The Billikens might lose by 50 to them. And Missouri beat Kentucky at Rupp Arena. The Billikens ain't doing that. They haven't even played a ranked team and never will this year. Missouri has already played 5 ranked teams.2forDiving wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 08:28 amThey wouldn’t lose by 40 to Illinois.icon wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 23:06 pmIt's easy to look great against bad teams. You have provided proof as to how inconsistent Missouri has been this season.icon wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 10:08 amMissouri didn't have 2 of its best players in that game. And LSU was winless in the conference and was missing two STARTERS when we came to town Sat, and still beat us by double digits. Billikens are a more complete basketball team at this point than Mizzou is. We play them 5 times, I'd guess we'd win once or twice. Yes, they play in a weaker conference than us, but they're by far the best team in it. I'm no cheerleader for SLU, but come on man, they're not losing by 50 to anyone. Watch them play and you'll see a well-coached team with good balance, a big man who is a difference maker, a Mizzou legacy who should be playing for us, and good shooters on the court. I'd be happy to swap jerseys with them and let them finish out the season for us.icon wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 10:08 amMissouri didn't have 2 of its best players in that game.
