Boston Trade
Last time I posted on here that the Blues should offer sheet Broberg, they did it.
If the Blues are going to trade Thomas, they should trade with Boston:
OUT:
1. Robert Thomas ($8.1M for 5 more years) Thomas lines up better with timeline of Boston starts (Pasta and McAvoy)
2. Justin Faulk (retain 50% for rest of year and 1 more = $3.25M per)
3. Tyler Tucker - ($925K 1 more year)
$12.275M OUT
IN:
1. James Hagens - (rookie deal)
2. Mason Lohrei - ($3.2M 1 more year than RFA)
3. Casey Mittelstadt ($5.75 for one more year after this one - flip again probably)
4. Andrew Peeke ($2.75M - ufa at end of year. Only included for cap purposes)
5. conditional 2026 2nd Round pick (2026 2nd becomes worse of 2026 1sts (Tor & Bos) if Bos wins 2 playoff rounds and Thomas plays in 50% of games)
6. 2027 1st round pick (worse of Florida's and Boston's)
$11.7M IN

Re: Boston Trade
Offer sheet Dinges!
Seems like we would want to maximize value by trading different players to different teams. Having said that, I'm not too familiar with the Boston players you listed.

So according to you, this deal is as good as done. When can we expect the announcement?noted wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 12:38 pm Last time I posted on here that the Blues should offer sheet Broberg, they did it.

No - I said the Blues should offer sheet Broberg which is how they acquired him in the first place. I could go back and find it if I cared to.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 12:43 pmEveryone knew Broberg was getting extended so what?noted wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 12:38 pm Last time I posted on here that the Blues should offer sheet Broberg, they did it.

I'm not trying to pretend to be Nostradamus. Just saying Boston lines up as good trade partner if they did move Thomas.
Re: Boston Trade
The Blues should not be trading Thomas

Re: Boston Trade
So Hagens is the Blues #1 center next year with Schenn, Dvorsky, Suter? Or something like this? Disaster in the short term, but who knowsnoted wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 13:14 pmsigh...SameOldBlues wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 12:56 pmSo according to you, this deal is as good as done. Yes it would mean the Blues are bad again next year more than likely. Might be best thing long term though.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 13:38 pmSo Hagens is the Blues #1 center next year with Schenn, Dvorsky, Suter? Or something like this? Re: Boston Trade
If Hagens is a lot closer to a Celebrini than to Dvorsky then you might be on to something. Thomas is young enough to at least make an inquiry more than a laughing matter.
Thomas can be part of the future. He needs to get healthy and he needs help on the ice before he loses all his hair.

Re: Boston Trade
I dont see Dvorsky as a Celebrini that seems certain but i think DD may surprise some folks at some point with his production. early to mid 20s i expect him to be a 1A/1B type centerDawgDad wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 13:54 pm If Hagens is a lot closer to a Celebrini than to Dvorsky then you might be on to something. Re: Boston Trade
He needs to change the transmission, he needs another gear. He seems to play very well defensively and in transition but he's not fast or quick enough with his feet to be a true playmaker or puck supporter offensively. I see him veer off to net front or slot or an open space a lot because others are beating him to the puck. He's in Schenn territory, only worse at the moment.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 14:09 pmI dont see Dvorsky as a Celebrini that seems certain but i think DD may surprise some folks at some point with his production. early to mid 20s i expect him to be a 1A/1B type centerDawgDad wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 13:54 pm If Hagens is a lot closer to a Celebrini than to Dvorsky then you might be on to something. Re: Boston Trade
I really like Hagens, so the idea is pretty interesting. I like Lohrei as well, for that matter. But it's complicated since Thomas, for better or worse, is kind of indispensable for the Blues.

Re: Boston Trade
He wont be 21 till June hes doing great flashes unreal skill he is actually moving better than i saw in the past when i really concerned. If Dalibor can get into the low teens in goals scored this season with 30 games left thats a successful first NHL campaign also have to consider hes on a really bad team. I have zero concern we have our center tandem now regardless of this seasons output from Thomas.DawgDad wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 14:24 pmHe needs to change the transmission, he needs another gear. Re: Boston Trade
In my opinion...not near enough in return for the Blues. We would get more by splitting up Faulk and Thomas and trading them separately.noted wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 12:38 pm Last time I posted on here that the Blues should offer sheet Broberg, they did it.

I don't think the Blues will have any trouble treading Faulk and getting a 1st + for him. Which means you are moving Thomas for 2 lottery tickets that may or may not pay off and a second. Hard pass for me. i don't think the Blues will trade thomas...but if they did, people on this board will be amazed at the haul that he brings back.
