Army's PLAN FOR WINNING THE CUP?

Post by a smell of green grass »

Army was quite vocal about building a "team" to win the Olympics. Why is he not as laser-committed to building a "Blues Team" to win the Cup? Why is the mission for the Blues to only be "5% better"?!!

Did anyone notice that Army's roster to win the Olympics had almost zero overlap with Army's roster to win the Stanley Cup, Parayko and Binnington. And both players will be gone in 2 years. Broberg counts as 1 longer term overlap.

Fast forward 4 years to the next Olympics. Does anyone see a single Blues player other than Broberg invited to the 2030 Olympics. I don't. We have a few maybes, at best.

This is a major problem, Sports Fans! Olympics and Stanley Cups are won with elite players that perform specific roles, and we have ZERO ELITE PLAYERS.

Blues Fans should demand these answers from Army before he exits because we are in a big hole, and he owes us an answer on how he is going to dig us out of it.

It would be more accurate to say that I have problem with how the Blues are connecting the dots to win the next Cup.

Why does assembling Team Canada look SO DIFFERENT than assembling a team to win the Stanley Cup?

My shots go 5-hole, but yet they still go over Goldblum's crossbar. How is that possible, I ask.

You are doing a bit too much ASOGG. Your point landed a LONG while ago. You are sounding like a broken record at this point drilling home a point that we have no control over. At some point you should stop gracing us with your presence on this topic or take it up the chain of command. Not the board.

Unfortunately, I can't get a meeting with Armstrong. :)

My only hope is to keep at least 1 topic on Page 1 of BluesTalk so that anyone (NHL journalists) reading can see that there are at least some fans in St Louis that are not happy with the Doug Armstrong approach to roster building.

I'll try to keep my griping constrained to my own thread and limit my posts overall.

Well:

1, an NHL team has budget constraints
2, trades are limited to willing partners
3, free agency decisions start with player availability

An Olympic roster is built without any of the above restrictions.

I took a second to re-review the Canadian roster. That team is so stacked! Even the depth players are superstars.

It's really a "cost is no object" endeavor.

OMG

This gets more hilarious the further I look.

"Team Canada's cap hit varies depending on the specific tournament or roster, but for the recent Four Nations Face-Off (Feb 2025), Canada's roster had a combined cap hit of over $174 million, second only to Team USA, highlighting the high-caliber,"

I doubt that Sweden, Slovakia and Czechia agree with your outlook in 4 years.
