Jiricek will be another diamond pick in the draft at #16 just like Thomas, Neighbours, Kyrou, Stenberg (tied for 2nd in his draft at +4)

From Dobber...

STL – Adam Jiricek, D (Brantford Bulldogs)

OHL: 25GP – 10G, 19A, 29PTS

WJC-20: 5GP – 4G, 1A, 5PTS

16th overall, 2024; Height: 6-2; Weight: 185 lbs

With five points in five games, Jiricek has been a key contributor to Czechia’s success at the World Juniors. With Czechia set to face Canada in the semifinals, Jiricek is expected to log heavy minutes against top competition, something he’s handled very well all tournament. Over the last week, he has showcased the ability to deliver in big moments. His overtime highlight-reel goal against Finland gained attention from the hockey world and clearly stands as the goal of the tournament. Jiricek also scored a pivotal go-ahead goal in the quarterfinals, which eventually propelled them into the semifinal round.

He has arguably been the best defenseman at this tournament. While not as offensively dynamic as Parekh, Jiricek’s two-way game has been beautiful to watch. He’s been a huge factor on the penalty-kill, always blocking shots and shutting down chances. Czechia would have a lot more goals against without him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jiricek in the NHL as early as next season – if not full-time, then at least for an extended look.

Mails isn’t projecting well at all
He played today. Seemed to hold his own.
He’s not projecting well for a high pick. You know that already
I still think he'll be a fine top 4 Dman with much needed grit when its all said and done.
I do too.

He had a weird and interrupted progression coming into the league. On top of that I'd guess some immaturity.

I believe he knows STL is giving him a huge opportunity and from my seat he most certainly has the talent, size and skill.... now it gets down to actually finding his game under the bright lights.

So far, the Blues have handled him quite well, IMO. While not being rushed they have put the brass ring right in front of him. And he has clearly responded.
You summed it up better than I could’ve

It all depends on how he does in the AHL against men. Everything else means little to nothing.

I'm glad to see Jiricek doing well, and staying injury-free. Kudos to him for hanging tough.

Here is my beef with it.

With their first round pick, Minnesota acquired Buuim, who is in the NHL and doing well. He is looking special in the NHL.

With their first round pick, St Louis acquired Jiricek, who is doing well in the WJC. Jiricek is about 20000 miles away from the NHL currently. Will he ever be as strong of a contributor as Buuium? Very likely not.

Army believes that it is a WIN to draft >#15.
ASOGG believes that drafting HIGH ENOUGH to get the next Buuim is how you win.

Army is full of [nonsense], and the fans should make him answer for why he wants to always draft #15 or higher.

I score a goal, and Goldblum fakes a dive in the goal crease. Ugly.

I tend to agree, but the most important thing for his season was to be healthy. He's proving he is healthier, bigger, stronger, and meaner than ever. He's being afforded the opportunity to dominate teenagers and his same-age peers in the process, and even though I thought he could've played in the A this season, I am more than pleased with how things are going at the moment. He should get a taste in April after his OHL season ends. He looked great in preseason. Wouldn't be bothered at all if he started in the A next year, but it'll just end up like Dvorsky with him fully in the lineup by December.

As for his #, prolly should just go with 27 :)

You had an empty net and threw it 29 rows deep into the seats.

He's done his part putting in work and it's paying off but he's really young and it takes defensemen so much longer to develop imo. The Blues took a gamble and so far it's gold.

You DID NOT score a goal. Your shot was miles wide. Your post screams lack of knowledge or clouded judgement due to your biased hatred of Army.

Buium is 7 months older than Jiricek. Buium is a -11 in 41 career games.
Sorry, but I think I’d rather wait a little longer and have Jiricek. He’s got the better all around game and I really don’t think it’s close.

The last 3 mins of the gold medal game Jiricek scored of a one timer, then on the next goal he went to the opposite side of the ozone and took control off the puck to make a pass that then led to their second goal. N the second period Jiricek pounced on a loose puck and hit a post.
The 3rd period against Canada Jiricek also pounced on a loose puck to get a shot in net. The Blues need a player or two that can shoot without hesitation and pounce on loose pucks like that.

Sweden was definitely the better team, but those last three minutes were great!

Ive always like the Jiricek pick but no reason to down play Buium, he just turned 20 and has 18 points in his first 41 NHL games. We'd be thrilled with that if we picked him but the fact of the matter is he wasn't on the board when we picked so we picked Jiricek who is looking pretty (bleep) good as well. Who knows which ones ends up being better but I'm sure Buium would also be dominant at the jr level right now.

Currently I'd be thrilled to have either one.
