Doesnt sounds Like Ryan Day would be a fan. He came out and said 25 days off is too much and they need to eliminate the bye week. If you have 16, just play a normal bracket.jcgmoi wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 08:39 amIf you hate the idea of byes you'll really hate this.No byes.
The 5/11 proposal that is gathering steam would increase the number of teams to 16, the top five conference champs and the next best 11 teams.
Under that proposal the top 12 seeds would get a bye the first week.
For the second round, the top 2 seeds would get another bye.

Texas Tech certainly didn't benefit from the bye.
Even Missouri with anyone playing QB beats them today.
They were awful.

'Big Game' Drink would've made TT look like the greatest team EVER!11WSChamps wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 14:03 pm Texas Tech certainly didn't benefit from the bye.

By my math that's 2 games in round one and then 7 games in round two ? leaving 2 teams still yet to play 3 weeks into play offs??

My prediction we’d have beat TT 2-0 on a safety with a minute to go. Neither team would have a 1st down the entire game.dugoutrex wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 14:07 pm'Big Game' Drink would've made TT look like the greatest team EVER!11WSChamps wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 14:03 pm Texas Tech certainly didn't benefit from the bye.

Re: College Football Today
Years ago I heard about a HS game that ended 4-0 on a first quarter safety and another safety late in the game. Afterwards, the winning coach said 'We knew we had them beat but our boys wanted to pour it on'.we’d have beat TT 2-0

I've been cursed to be a Lions fan since 1967. One of the most depressing playoff losses they had was a baseball score 5-0 to the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams came into the game with identical 10-4 records. It was the lowest-scoring NFL playoff game ever, played on December 26, 1970. Dallas kicked a field goal in the first quarter. Dallas sacked Detroit's quarterback, Greg Landry in the end zone in the fourth quarter. Detroit got in the red zone late in the fourth quarter but threw and interception (Mel Renfro) which put an end to any hope of a win.
In 1970, Lions-Cowboys produced one of the rarest results in NFL history
Detroit's Greg Landry and Bill Munson combined to go 7-for-20 for 92 yards and an interception; Dallas' Craig Morton was worse, if that is possible, going 4-for-18 for 38 yards and one pick.
The rules in the NFL were quite different then wrt the passing game.

What's worse is we've had the displeasure of putting up with you for many years with all of your spell checking goofiness when you can't even figure out how to spell check your own posts.acco40 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026 01:10 amI've been cursed to be a Lions fan since 1967. Then there's the game where Auburn eased past Mississippi State 3-2, a few years before y'all joined the SEC.

Re: College Football Today
this system sucks eggs for many reasons, waiting too long to get started then byes for better teams hasn't worked very well. having two G5 teams in playoffs is simply stupid as the talent level is too great PERIOD.
problem is committee is too influenced by Bowl officials who still think they mean something when most of them don't matter at all anyway. Now should be used in first round to keep them viable and move to 16 teams and all get going at same time.
Who doesn't love that THE OSU got a smckdown laid up on them, Aggies got exposed, BAMA got humiliated and then GA got beat finally by the team of destiny after Kiffin quitem.
IMO and most observers IU looked all season consistently looking like a Saban coached Bama or LSU team totally dominate on both LOS"s and simply run right over you and have you giving up in second half.
Have Pawwwlllll's show taped for today and simply can't wait for the rending of garments, outrage and knashing of teeth by the tide faithful who up to game time KNEW Bama was going to rise up and expose that fake Hoosiers team. it's going to be entertaining as their entitlement knows no bounds.

Rams 11 Buccaneers 6. 1999 NFC Championship (Ricky Proehl TD)
Only game in NFL history with that final score.
Re: College Football Today
One of the funniest things about the fallout from yesterday is Nick Saban picking Bama (I'm shocked, shocked!) over Indiana. He was only wrong by 36 points.
He was a far better coach than as an ESPN analyst. All of Bama's warts were exposed.
The 2 QBs who have been most impressive were Mendoza and Chambliss. Both were throwing one dime after another and were accurate on deep throws. And Chambliss was very accurate while on the run. Indiana was the most impressive overall team -- in all 3 phases. Great job by the OC and DC and STs coach. And obviously Cignetti.
