I haven't seen Avatar or Marty Supreme but I did my part with my thoughts on the new Knives Out at least

I also wonder if people have just stopped watching movies in general. My film consumption has dramatically decreased over the last 5 years, and I don't watch even half the amount of slop TV shows that most other people watch. The cause of my decrease is mostly youtube and social media.MikoTython wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 12:09 pm I expect this forum, the site in general, has dwindled since our gaggle of noxious trolls has been denied a platform - not by any means an altogether bad thing - but who remains are folks who don’t actually go to the theater anymore. Sadly. I’ll check out your takes, some of those films might appeal, most won’t. My interests are limited, most offerings are targeted to other folks, apparently.
Quick takes:
I enjoyed ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,’ better known as ‘Knives Out 3,’ despite its overly complicated name. Rian Johnson must be insufferable…
You can't underestimate the impact of the streaming brain-drain on Hollywood. There are always good ideas out there--Severance, Pluribus, eg--but they get bought up by Amazon, Netflix, etc. and turned from a 100 page screenplay into a 10 hour Season 1 (keeping enough questions unanswered for for more seasons, of course).FrankTheTank wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026 12:18 pm I think movies are just dead...or dying out. I love going to the movies, but I have a niece (20) and nephew (22) who just never go, they told me it's really not a thing that the younger people do anymore. I get it, but bums me out. Also, I think superhero fatigue definitely set in plus the fact that Hollywood rarely has any good, new, ideas to hit theatres. Everything is such a retread now. Risky movies, R-rated comedies, seem to be a thing of the past (or only released on streaming services). Going to movies was (and has been still) a big part of my life, but sadly, I don't think that is the case with the younger (and future) generations.
