I expect this forum, the site in general, has dwindled since our gaggle of noxious trolls has been denied a platform - not by any means an altogether bad thing - but who remains are folks who don’t actually go to the theater anymore. Sadly. I’ll check out your takes, some of those films might appeal, most won’t. My interests are limited, most offerings are targeted to other folks, apparently.

I also wonder if people have just stopped watching movies in general. My film consumption has dramatically decreased over the last 5 years, and I don't watch even half the amount of slop TV shows that most other people watch. And not to be an old man screaming at clouds, but the kids these days are absolutely not watching movies at even a fraction of the scale that my generation did. My teenager can go weeks without watching a movie, and if he does it's usually because my wife or I twist his arm into it. (Happy to report he almost always really enjoys them when we do this, but still.) I'd watch multiple movies a week at his age, if not one per day.

Ok, I’ll try to help.
My family and I all saw Avatar. I think I was one of the few adults on the planet who didn’t see the original in the theater. When I finally saw it at home I understood the visuals and how they may have looked incredible on the big screen, but they didn’t have the same impact to me, so I thought it was “eh”.
The family and I saw the second when it came out. I had forgotten all the characters except Nitiri and Sully, so It took a while before I figured out what was going on. I thought it looked great, but was way too long and was underwhelmed, thus setting me up to not really wanting to see “Fire and Ash”. My expectations were pretty low.
I tell you all that to say I was pleasantly surprised by F&A. I really liked it! Yes, it was largely a rehash of no. 2, and yeah, it was really long, but it didn’t seem to drag in spots like 2 did for me. And not having a 16 year time jump with a (bleep)-ton of new characters thrown at me I was able to track it much better than the last one.
So given how this one went for me, if they do 4 & 5, I will willingly go see them.
Your mileage may vary. Offer void in Hawaii and Alaska. Don’t see “Avatar: Fire and Ash” if you are allergic to “Avatar: Fire and Ash”…

Social media. Newsgroups (aging myself) are dead. Especially since this is St. Louis based, and there’s nothing local about talking movies here. Plenty of other spots to do that.
People still come here to talk Cards and Blues with other locals, but even then, those forums are shells of what they used to be.
If you saw Avatar 2, you saw Avatar 3. Pretty much the same 3 hours of (bleep). The visuals are great, sure.
Knives Out, I think it didn’t measure up to the others. But I was in my phone for most of it,
The Housemaid was pretty fun. You can definitely wait for streaming, but it was a good time.

No interest in Avatar. Will watch Knives Out eventually as it's already streaming. I think this forum is dying for a couple of reasons, mainly that movies are also dying. We have folks that still enjoy going but the conversations are between the same 7 people almost always. I wish there was more talk here. I'm guilty of not participating but that's more life than anything.
Marty Supreme: saw it in the theater over the Xmas break. I enjoyed some of it. I thought he was rock solid and I'm starting to think he is one of the true great actors of our generation. Otherwise the thing came in about 2:25 and hit was easily half an hour or more too long, like most movies it seems.
The ping pong career and his personality were the epicenter of the film. It seemed to fork off into way too many smaller subplots that caused the run time to be way too much. Without spoiling anything much I'll just give the whole side story about the (bleep) dog as an example. Was all of that really necessary?
Would give it a B-.
