No doubt in my mind that Kyrou will take off as soon as he is traded.
Miami, I hope you’re right, but the guy’s 27 now. I’ve watched him since his Sarnia days, so this isn’t a new take. I don’t dislike Kyrou — he’s a talented player, and I’ll admit we’re finally seeing some improvement in his 200-foot game.

He’s not a Berube-style player or a Montgomery-style player, and that’s fine. But when you’re making eight million a year, you don’t get to ignore the process — you adapt to it and work on it. And honestly, it doesn’t look like much of that happened in the offseason. If he can’t adjust, then maybe it’s time to move on.

I want to keep Kyrou. But at some point, show a little jam, add a new shot or two, and remind everyone why you got paid in the first place.
I am not a huge Kyrou fan and I think the criticism of him has merit for sure, so don't take my post as saying I disagree with that. I just think if he is traded, it will likely be to a team that knows his skills and will put him in a place to thrive with them. Whether that leads to teamwide success for that team, who knows, but I do think his personal stats will greatly benefit.

When they signed him and Thomas they were supposed to be the next hull and Oates (Thomas the playmaker setting up kyrou the goal scorer). Problem is that they have zero chemistry together. Holloway and kyrou showed that chemistry last season but have yet to rekindle it. Mostly due to one or the other being injured. Maybe if he goes to a more fast paced offensive style system then he will reach his potential. But he will never do it through self will. He has to lean in others. He is not a game breaker even though he is supposedly one of the fastest players in the league.

What explains his miserable compete level, do you think? Is he so unhappy with the centers and linemates available to him that he phones it in?
That's the part that makes me want to see him run outta town on a rail.

I think he is just mentally fragile. We all saw him cry when he got booed. Im not ripping him, I felt bad for him, but most athletes can handle booing. There is a lot of pressure as a pro athlete. Some people cant handle it.

Fair enough.
I don’t see how he could be any more coddled.

Perhaps a new team can snap him out of it, but we have gone above and beyond for him with the assets we have here.

Im sure there's a GM or coach who thinks that they can fix him. Let em take a shot and the blues can move on and gain a little cap space.

I also think plenty of teams are interested but only interested on their terms of the deal and not Army’s. Not sure we will get the return that I feel like we should get for a player of Kyrou’s caliber. Hate on him all you want, but be careful what you wish for.
Great post.
He got four shifts in the third period.
We are no longer rolling four hungry lines that compete like the Devil.
Oh [shirt], Harry, pump the brakes, bud—you’re one hot take away from full-blown KDS.
How can you say people have KDS when this puss has, basically from day one, played the same way?
As in becoming a pro at doing anything to possibly NOT take OR give a hit?
It’s infuriating to watch him when others have to play hard like you’re supposed to do when you play hockey at this level!
And remember the big [fork]ing deal about how fast ‘ole JK is? I seem to remember during the last Nashville game the play going back to the Blues end and Kyrou was lazily skating back while Bunting was easily pacing him.
His play, in general, just reeks of being lackadaisical.

Thank you, Sir!

When was the last time anyone saw Kyrou actually use his "All-Star Game Fastest Skater" speed?
Almost makes you wonder if he still fricken has it....

The absolute scariest part to me is having our young guys watching his play. Hopefully they turn a blind eye.

Terrifying.

A team like Ott, Col, Edm and maybe even the Rangers would be good landing places where the captain wouldn’t except mediocre efforts from Kyrou. Maybe add Pittsburgh to that list.

You honestly believe that coaches and players like Berube, Schenn, Fowler, Neighbors, Walker, Montgomery, O'Reilly ... and former player and asst GM Steen accept mediocre efforts from Kyrou?? That list is as old school as it gets. Some are vets and some are younger - but they all play an old school, honest, north / south game.

There are two types of players: guys you can push and they get better ... and guys you push who freak out and shrink.

I can’t say anything for sure when it comes to Kyrou. I do know that players like Crosby, MacKinnon are some of the strongest leaders in the league. I do know they also have more talent than Kyrou and still put in the work. Schenn doesn’t have Kyrou’s skills. Thomas isn’t demanding anything from Kyrou. Walker is lucky to be in the NHL, either way I don’t think any of the players you listed come close to commanding a locker room like Crosby, MacKinnion or McDavid

we aren't trading him to Colorado. There's absolutely no way he's traded in division. I'd say New York is a possibility, definitely not Pitt they have nothing of value to trade, Ottawa doesn't have much, and Edmonton we've beaten to death about their lack of trade fodder.

If he's traded it has to be someone of equal value with term on his contract and there just aren't many of those other there.

Tsn and sportsnet think he is LA bound. A Brandt Clarke straightup? Not enough? Then u deal Faulk.

I wouldn't be opposed to it, but we can't ship out a 30 goal scorer and just get a dman back, we have to replace his goals. However looking over their roster they are as goal starved as we are. Kempe leads them with 14 goals and 32 points. Then Fiala with 13, after that it's a big drop off. I don't even know how they are winning. Maybe Laferriere? I don't think I want Turcotte.

I've always thought of some type of deal with Seattle centered around Beniers and Kyrou made sense. The Blues desperately need to upgrade their #2C position and to me he is on the type of contract the Blues would want and it doesn't put undue pressure on Dvorsky to be "the guy" right away so early in his career.
