Is Jordan Kyrou Done in St. Louis? 3 Teams Circling the Blues Star
The Suitors: Canucks, Senators, and Devils
According to reports from NHL insider Chris Johnston, the chatter is heating up around three specific clubs. Here is why these fits make sense:
Vancouver Canucks: They need scoring punch on the wing to complement their elite centers. If they can make the money work, Kyrou’s speed fits their transition game perfectly.
Ottawa Senators: The Sens are desperate to take the next step. Adding a proven scorer (when healthy) like Kyrou could be the spark their top six needs to push for a playoff spot.
New Jersey Devils: The Devils play fast. Kyrou plays fast. New Jersey is always looking to add skill, and they have the assets to make a “hockey trade” that appeals to Armstrong—an established player for an established player.
The hurdle, of course, is the NTC. Kyrou holds the cards. However, if the environment in St. Louis remains toxic and the losing continues, waiving that clause to join a contender or a young, hungry team might become very appealing to him by the summer, if not sooner.
Who would you want from either of these teams ?

They lost me at elite centers for Vancouver.
The Canucks have a lot of term committed to 3 wingers already in Boeser, Debrusk, and Garland.
I'm not a fan of Kyrou but he is certainly a better player than those 3 mediocre guys.
Look for Vancouver to trade Kane, Sherwood, and perhaps Myers for draft picks.
They're breaking in 2 rookie d-men with good upside and have 2 other decent veteran d-men locked up for years.
EP40 & Demko are their wildcards.
Ottawa definitely needs a top 6 winger so they can slot down Zetterlund to where he belongs.
They're not trading #7 so don't start with that talk again. Kyrou would be on his line.
I would be shocked if they traded Yakemchuk, so it's probably Hensler plus other goodies.
Nemec was the guy to get from NJ back in June. They were a perfect fit but that ship has sailed.
They're trying to pawn off Hamilton to land a top 6 winger which they desperately need.
Seattle, Buffalo, Winnipeg, NYI, and Columbus are other teams that need top 6 winger help.

I love the idea of a hockey trade!
This states that “if the environment remains toxic”. Is it even toxic to begin with?

This implies that it is currently toxic. I dont think losing is necessarly toxic. You can learn and grow from losing. Got to weed those people out.

C'mon, the way the Blues are currently losing is toxic. Could be a couple of players wanting out of this current clown show.

It is for Kyrou. He’s been the whipping boy for years. Only way he’s traded if he’s tired of it.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 12:27 pm This implies that it is currently toxic. I dont think losing is necessarly toxic. You can learn and grow from losing. Got to weed those people out.

Let's take a look at tonight's forwards lineup. Kyrou and Snuggerud are back from being injured for several weeks, Breggren and Stenberg are recent roster additions. Dvorsky is still an evolving greenhorn. There are three young players on D and the BluesTalk anointed Joel Hofer is in goal. Only Schenn, Sunny, and the three veteran defenders are past their prime to one extent or another. It's not really a formula for toxicity.ScalesofJustice wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 13:43 pm C'mon, the way the Blues are currently losing is toxic. I don't know if it's toxic, but certain players do tend to look indifferent at times, and they get paid a lot. so from the outside, i can see that perception.
As annoyed as i get with Kyrou at times, i want something legitimate back to move him. Just saying 'well we don't really want to move this' doesn't cut it for me, either you are going to pay for a 30-40g scorer in his prime or you aren't going to get him from us.
For a team like Ottawa, I'd want to see a forward coming back. If they weren't packaging Greig and Hensler for say a fringe NHL D and Kyrou, then i'm probably not talking to them. We don't just trade Kyrou for one 'maybe in a few years guy', that's not how these things work.
Vancouver doesn't have enough in the pool to go after kyrou, and given their situation i don't think they are buying right now. NJ has some pieces, but what i would want would just be lateral movement for them. What they need is a trusted goaltender anyways.

Vet defender incoming.
Army always trades for guys he has had a boner for.
This year, that guy was ill be Hamilton.
For me. Kyrou is a keeper. He is not the reason we only win if we are willed to, by our goaler.
That's Army, Hitch, Monties fault.
The teams problem is their coaching and style of play management presses on them.
On the other side. Kyrou becomes near elite on a NJ, or Carolina. Where defense, is for defending, and offense is for scoring.

Yeah I'm highly questioning that as well. Never has a player said the environment was toxic at any point.blues2112 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 11:47 amHuh?stanw wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 05:34 am The Suitors: Canucks, Senators, and Devils

Out of those 3 the Devils are probably the best option for a hockey trade, the other two would be draft picks or prospects and that's not anything Army wants the main parts to be.

"the chatter is heating up"
"Chris Johnston" is the guy who collects the widows on the bottom of the popcorn popper. (Those kernels are phenomenal!)
"the chatter is heating up" means repeating on a web forum
Aside from that, I'm guessing there are 31 teams "interested" in a guy, who other posters have said, is in his prime, scores 30-40 and is "cheap" at 8.1 million.

and is signed for 6 more seasons. By the time his contract is up he'll be underpaid by about 5 million or soblues2112 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 16:30 pm"NHL insider Chris Johnston"TheJackBurton wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 15:00 pm Yeah I'm highly questioning that as well. lol Kyrou has been publicly called out by coaches, publicly fired back at coaches, he's been scratched, boo'ed by fans and openly put on the trade block. If its not toxic its certainly not great.
