Armstrong hasn't talked about regretting Petro leaving in years. Would have been nice having him the last few years, very glad we don't have him now. Fairly confident Army would agree.

The only "haunting" going on around here is the gremlins in your head.

Replace Kramer with you, and I imagine this is how most of your nights go, except you're having nightmares about Army and Petro.

Army traded for Faulk and "captain" Petro was icy in his reception. He kicked himself off the team due to his greed and desire to keep icing the puck in the final 2 minutes.
Why does Opie need to keep being reminded?
Army won the cup and decided to act like this wasn’t about players but about how well this is managed.
He Jerry Kraused Petro.
He leveraged Petro bringing in Faulk a then signed a really bad human being in Krug the day before he signed in Vegas for less money when taxes and cost of living is accounted for.
He married a StL girl and wanted to be here. I know this personally.

I would have NEVER given in to all his demands.
Petro held out on his previous contract….its what he does.
The fact he was unwilling to compromise on anything proves just how much of a “team guy” he was.
(By clipping my entire post I’m assuming you agreed with everything I wrote)

Petro deserved to be treated like the club actually wanted him to sign here.
Barbie is like a less skilled Barkov. He’s so so so so so valuable. He left way too casually.
Mikkola should have replaced the identity Boumeester provided.
As much as you guys want to do well the best thing to do is draft in the top 5.
Binnington has to be traded, hopefully after value is increased at the Olympics.
I would trade anyone but Neighbors and Hofer.
You are right with both Barb's and Mikkola.
Barb's was put on a fourth line here and told to stay because we had to many old guys on contract.
Every time he played top six he proved that it was best for the team for him to play top six.
But they kept on keeping him down. He probably lost Millions worth of top six money because Army drafted him.
Mikkola also sho we'd he belonged every time he will as on the ice. But this management believe bigly in, you need vet leadership, to win a championship. And a smart gm stole him for Blais another player Army had a boner for.
Petro is different. The mistake was made almost two years before he left. When Army thought [fork] Petro. Then showed no respect for him, his family and hated what would be Petro's STL legacy.
I think I agree, Binny has to be traded. But I think his value should be high. If Army puts half the energy in selling him as the big game goalie, he is. That he puts into selling bubble magic and his greatness to the loudest of the stl forum faithful. We should do alright.
Re: Petro, Barbashev, Mikkola
Those were uncertain times for sure. A whole lot of people beyond just those in practically every type of business made choices that they look back upon with regret and creating much more serious long-term problems than the makeup of a hockey team's roster.sdaltons wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 12:14 pmIt was covid. A lot of uncertainty on what the upcoming season would look like. I'm sure the owners were seeing effects with their other business ventures as well. They went as far as they could and it wasn't enough.

The NMC is definitely a diode particularly if it is for long term. Only a massive Mac Truck doesn't mind being caught on a one-way street.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 14:34 pmHis original ask was for Doughty and Karlsson money, along with a signing bonus and NMC. The extra playoff revenue he likely would've helped the team generate would've probably put them ahead on the deal in the end.sdaltons wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 12:14 pmIt was covid. People (A female canine animal, especially a dog) and complain on here about a partial-NTC, good lord the eye gouging if he was here with a full NMC.
Utilizing the Waive with the potential of long bus rides in the "A" may have negatives for the team re carrying the partial Cap as well as the potential for turning off other FAs, but I think the concern about what future FAs may think is overblown. Players want to win; players want to join a team that is recognizing what tough pill they may need to swallow in order to win; players want to play in the NHL for as long and for as much ice-time and for as much money as possible.

sure, but it wasn't only the NMC, it was also the signing bonus being like 90% of his pay, and him wanting 11 million.Old_Goat wrote: ↑30 Dec 2025 09:56 amThe NMC is definitely a diode particularly if it is for long term. If it was the 11 million on like a 5 year with no signing bonus, he probably gets that or close with a full NTC then becomes a partial in the last 2 years.
All 3 though? He knew he was never getting that, and therefore he was negotiating his exit.
