Parayko has one of the best contracts in the entire league. He is 6.5 million for 4 more years. No team is going to be willing to give up what it would take to acquire him.

In addition to the low cap hit, his actual dollar cost per season decreases.

He also has a full NTC through 2026-27, then M-NTC for the remainder.

And asserting (not you) that he'd waive his NTC to "return home" [to Edmonton] presumes to know a lot about him. I could be wrong about this, but I think he and his wife have a young child. Parenthood tends to ground people, but not always.

Trading Faulk or 55 moves every other RHD up the depth chart. Ugly.

Not knocking his nonprofit endeavors, but there's nothing there tying him to St. Louis - the foundation is set up to relocate whenever/wherever he does. I work with nonprofits for a living, and if you look at the small print you'll see they have a fiscal sponsor (a permanent financial institution that temporarily extends nonprofit tax status to your donations) based in TX.

I just don't see Edmonton having anything to trade. I don't really see any team offering what Parayko is worth. Usually those trades happen when a player isn't happy, and Parayko seems happy with the Blues.

It is nice to see he how high Parayko's ranking is among D for Relative Expected Goals For and Expected Goals For Percentage. On a team that has not done well he is still a standout when he is on the ice. And right at top 100 among D in scoring is a always a surprise given that has never been his focus. I know some people don't like stats, but stats and on ice results remove those "feels like facts".

And as of a couple weeks ago the Blues D via the analytics angle had been pretty good according to Craig Button.
It was the goaltending that had been the bigger issue.

All I know is I miss the Parayko of last season. Night and day difference from then to now. He has tried to control the play a little more as of late with some end-to-end carries but he's a shadow of last season. Unreal he not only has 0 goals this season, but he doesn't even appear on the cusp of scoring his first. It's not like he's out there p*ssed banging every shot he can to get it.

Colton's just way too nice a guy. If this year's version of Parayko is what's in store for the last leg of his career, I'd say trade him and others for prospects all day.

I agree that Parayko seems way too nice for hockey. I’d like to see him blast the puck from the point more. And maybe get it up a little high every now and then ala Al MacInnis. Big Al of Cape Breton made goalies flinch and THINK about their safety and that’s bad for goaltending. Also, I wonder if Colton’s back is giving him trouble again.
