If JJ mirrors the 2024 start of Brewer rookie Jackson Chourio, he would struggle the first couple months acclimating to major league pitching. From June til end of season, Chourio batted over .300
finishing the year with an overall batting average of .275 , 21 HR, 22 SB in 148 games and
3rd place N.L.rookie of year. (Skenes was 1st place)
In Chourio’s case, early ‘chasing’ was an issue. Thus far JJ has not shown that tendency being quite disciplined at pitch selection.
Looking forward to JJ’s rookie year .

Of course all our guesses are just that, guesses. But mine is as good as the next internet genius:
.285/.377/.435/.812
31 D/19 HR
12 SB
Position depends on Nolan G and Saggese. 2B if Nolan G turns the corner, if not and Saggese's arm isn't 3B, then 3B. Could be a George Brett'ish 3B.
Definitely in the running for ROY.

We badly need a top 3 ROY finish. Would give us an extra draft pick in 2027 as long as Bloom doesn't start playing service time games.rockondlouie wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 10:20 am .280-.285+ BA

Still a bad comp for projecting performance. JJ has been an on base and bat to ball machine. Chourio never had that profile.ramfandan wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 11:07 amSelected Chourio as both were No.1 prospects on respective teams , in same division ,both similarly rated in Top 100 (Chourio rated 2nd overall in 2024 / JJ rated 5th overall in 2025 ) .icon wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 10:30 amAlways the Brewers for comps for this and that. No way w/J. Walker who I have no confidence in until he shows he can lay off sweeper/sliders out of the strike zone.
All players have to stay healthy to reach their full potential.

You won’t believe this, but I was a very active base runner, hence many slides. Always got a strawberry burn about the size of softball. Oozing sticking and I used to get fever with them. That strawberry was the reason I started going head first back in the seventies.rockondlouie wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 12:29 pmDaily aches and pains, remember them well.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 11:03 amYou know- the foul ball off the foot, the hit by pitch, the ground ball bad hip off the wrists, naggers like that.rockondlouie wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 11:00 amYessikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 10:58 amOk then this simply comes down to one mitigating fact- injury. Yes it will...he knows the strike zone...he can hit to all fields...obviously not a big power hitter.....however he doesn't take much off if any with his 2 strike approach....he still let's it rip...he will hit his fair share of doubles alsosikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 10:46 amGood morning. Re: Wetherholt rookie season with Cardinals
Excited to see all the agreement on JJ's on base ability, and wonder if all agree just starting him at leadoff is the thing to do. I think the kids a player, a competitor and winning ballplayer, and I personally think he will thrive being thrown right into the fire. Follow him in the lineup with Herrera and Burleson, and see what happens. Bottom line, it's gonna be his team, IMO, and if he can get all the other hitters to hit for each other, it will be the "start" of a special team.
Start adding in hitters like Baez, Bernal in late 2026, and Ortiz and possibly Rodriguez by 2027, and the Cardinals are back, baby!

Obviously by the numbers and all the write ups I knew baez was much improved...but last night I watched some of his highlights...man he got quiet at the plate...then he just explodes on the ball...good size and speed...he's got a chance to be a really good one...DewittDaman11 wrote: ↑29 Dec 2025 20:03 pm Excited to see all the agreement on JJ's on base ability, and wonder if all agree just starting him at leadoff is the thing to do. Oli will hit him 7th or 8th, trying to protect him. FYI Oli, your lineup has no protection for him!
