What's the definition of insanity? (doing the same thing over & over again and expecting a different result)
And No........BDWJr wasn't going to throw $200-250M in payroll to fix the above problem.
Just how dumb are the "BFIB" and the local media?

Sometimes the rot is so bad in a foundation that the only solution is to tear it down and start all over.

Fair enough, I'm okay with a "reset", if you are not happy with a 93 win division win team that was favored to beat a 6th seed Phillies team in 2022, a team that had the MVP and 3rd place MVP, you all couldn't support and thought sucked even with adding the NL starting catcher for 2023. Let's see what you got?An Old Friend wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 13:59 pmIt's not a rebuild. They're resetting to a lower payroll... a small market model... and for some reason, many fans don't want to acknowledge that reality.
Is it this? Yeah, you suck!

YOU'RE THE F ing plane inspector and mechanic that created this mess!ClassicO wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 13:25 pm Does the OP have reasonable solutions he wants to offer?
Complaining is easy. Providing answers is not.
Personally I don’t want to see another year like the last few years, and keeping the same players would have led to that. They are long past the ability to fix the plane while it’s in flight.
The only way to significantly improve the team is to take risks with younger players, and to draft/trade in order to develop a young core that Tier One free agents would want to join. No top FA wants to join the hot mess of the past few seasons — and it makes no sense to sign such a free agent until there is solid young core.
Obviously the solution is crystal clear. Support your club, show up, spend, and root for your guys to win and succeed!
Now, you got it your way, will you?
And yes, I paid for 30+ years of primo season tickets before - and for years after - I moved from STL. How about you?
I was fortunate to sell my PSLs before the 2021 season, since it was too hard to use and/or sell the tix (and like my Rams tickets, I couldn't give them away).

1. League MVP
2. 2nd-runner up, league MVP
3. All-time great/HOF who led league in HR after ASB.
4. Two pitching acquisitions with 9-5 record & sub-3.00 era.
5. Final good seasons from Mikolas & Wainwright & their ~ 400 innings.
The loss of all of that helped bring about 23-25.

AHHHAHAHA!!!! What else should die hard Cardinals fans do at this point? Let's have a few drinks and talk smack to the "real fans". I will still go to the games and root for this [nonsense] you wanted, will you? Yeah, bring me better than what I liked and was reasonable, I feel I will be waiting a while, so let's drink.

Sure it’s called spending money like the Cards have before…..like every competitive team doesClassicO wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 13:25 pm Does the OP have reasonable solutions he wants to offer?

Saying money can’t be spent now because a moron was in charge of it previously doesn’t make much sense.
Saying because a moron was in charge of minor leagues and it went chit doesn’t mean you don’t rebuild minor leagues……
But this return for our Middling aging talent isn’t going to Rebuild the minors

He's deluded enough to think the team, as it was before trading Gray, etc., was good enough to add a piece or two and seriously compete.ClassicO wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 13:25 pm Does the OP have reasonable solutions he wants to offer?

So this is so much better? Enjoy! I want the Cards to go out and find another MVP type in Goldy, go find another steal in Nado, get an all star starter in Contreras and take the Dodgers to the edge and beat that! Love your commitment and passion, you win some and you lose some. In your time you also watched some great baseball that could beat everyone. Sucks you are a quitter and wants to give up. We aren't getting back with that mindset.ClassicO wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 14:20 pmI have no clue what your response means. Jumble.Ike Hammett wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 13:33 pmAnd what caused this? The only rational explanation for this kind of trolling is, he works for the P-D and is paid, rather poorly, to drive traffic. The stupidity is just too far over the top for it to be a real person, with these real thoughts.

On paper, the top spenders should always win. This is baseball! Yes, the Blue Jays can and did beat the Dodgers, Los Angeles didn't win because they were any better or had a higher payroll. They won because it was their day and they didn't stop fighting. Don't be a quitter and hope for your day.AnExParrot wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 14:41 pmHe's deluded enough to think the team, as it was before trading Gray, etc., was good enough to add a piece or two and seriously compete.ClassicO wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 13:25 pm Does the OP have reasonable solutions he wants to offer?

It has to be trolling. Every one of these whackos seems to live under the delusion that Cards Talk posters somehow control the FO moves of the Cardinals organization.
It's like an angry old man yelling at a cloud because his soup was cold.

Oh they totally understand the “concept” of a rebuild just fine.NotAFathersDay9871 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 13:18 pm I love how difficult the concept of a rebuild is to understand. It’s the “timeline” that they don’t understand!
Apparently for some that timeline is 2 months???

I asked him his previous screen name and he didn’t respond.
I admit that missing the playoffs three straight years is a bummer....but NOW he’s leading me to believe that as a “bfib” that I AM RESPONSIBLE.
