How many times have the Cardinals top prospects worked out? When was the last time their 1st round pick became a true start? Ted Simmons?Web7 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 23:05 pmWe (drat) sure are not getting top prospectsecleme22 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 23:01 pm“Bloom is trading for players I’ve never heard of and don’t know anything about! I would say philosophically going from a stance of attracting Hall of Fame bound managers to in-house options, with zero qualifying credentials because the nerds in the boxes arrogant thought they knew better, was more likely the problem.TXCardsFanX wrote: ↑20 Dec 2025 08:34 am Trying to compete ever year is exactly what got the Cardinals into the lukewarm years we endured. If you don't have unlimited funds (which still doesn't work for many teams), sometimes you gotta go through a rebuild period.
The Sonny Gray trade was a good bet. If May plays well, we might be able to flip him at the deadline for a top prospect.
Again, we used to go after guys like Whitey, Joe Torre, & Tony LaRussa. Then, we strayed away from Terry Francona for HS Coaches, guys who never played professionally, and whatever you want to consider Oli Marmol.
Francona, who had multiple World Series titles under his belt and today is only 66, would go onto manage the Indians through one of Cleveland’s best periods of baseball. In his first year w/the Reds, he steered them into the playoffs after their worst stretch as a franchise, where they missed the playoffs 10/11 years

10 years ago, they won 100 Games. Then they’d add Paul Goldschmidt who had a spectacular career including a MVP, Nolan Arenado for a sack of potatoes, and even bring back Albert Pujols for one of the most epic send-offs in baseball history.Web7 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2025 22:54 pm Except Weby is almost always right …. Are you trying to suggest that you predicted COVID, too? The season before COVID struck saw them in the NLCS, losing to the eventual World Series Champion.

I wasn’t the one trying to claim the franchise was being ruined ahead of a 100-win campaign. Maybe you should have cherry-picked your data better?Web7 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 06:48 amThanks for showing us your hobby of cherry picking…..BleedingBleu wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 05:16 am10 years ago, they won 100 Games. They are no longer a major league organization. They are the Pirates in St. Louis.

This team has not won a second round playoff game in like nine years…… But yeah, everything is just fine…… Gotta love a loser mentalityBleedingBleu wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 08:08 amI wasn’t the one trying to claim the franchise was being ruined ahead of a 100-win campaign. Now you’re getting Down to the nitty gritty….I’ve asked several times hereCardinals1964 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 00:08 amHow many times have the Cardinals top prospects worked out? When was the last time in modern Cards history when this REBUILD process has taken place and succeeded??
The answer is NEVER. All CARDS winning has been through acquiring outside ML talent through trades or FA
But it’s a good tale for the sheep I suppose. The Great BLOOM will accomplish what has NEVER BEEN done BEFORE……watch us for 2,3,4,5,yrs
Really as long as takes…..because it might not work the first attempt…..

There’s a very big difference when going from regular playoff contender to regular Top 10 Draft Pick recipient.
The team was highly competitive throughout the first part of the decade you claimed they were swirling around the drain. Then you want to imagine COVID didn’t impacted the Cardinals.
I’m not arguing whether Mozeliak’s personnel decisions and business moves were adequate enough to win a World Series. That’s not the argument. You claimed ruinous before the Cardinals even acquired Goldschmidt!
