Re: So far the Cards have done nothing but dump salary
The only open spots for an offensive upgrade is of course in the OF.
-1st Base WillyC (A. Burleson if Willy's dealt)
-2nd Base JJW
-SS M. Winn
-3rd base N. Gorman (NADO but odds strong he's dealt. Not ideal but no way you want Saggese at 3rd base)
-C Pages, Crooks, Pozo, ect........................
I hope C. Bloom can find a veteran OF but not holding my breathe since the FA market is thin.

The Cardinals haven’t truly tried to win since LaRussa left, and I believe that is why he left, because he knew they were going to change the way they operated. Mo always stopped short of one or two players that everyone could see was still needed.TXCardsFanX wrote: ↑20 Dec 2025 08:34 am Trying to compete ever year is exactly what got the Cardinals into the lukewarm years we endured. If you don't have unlimited funds (which still doesn't work for many teams), sometimes you gotta go through a rebuild period.
The Sonny Gray trade was a good bet. If May plays well, we might be able to flip him at the deadline for a top prospect.

He left because he retired from managing.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2025 10:01 amThe Cardinals haven’t truly tried to win since LaRussa left, and I believe that is why he left, because he knew they were going to change the way they operated. He wasn’t done with baseball…..BDW/MO showed TLR their amazing PLAN for the future and he wasn’t in it. THEY were going to guide the team to glory with cheap controllable managers…..have you been watching??ecleme22 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2025 10:16 amHe left because he retired from managing.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2025 10:01 amThe Cardinals haven’t truly tried to win since LaRussa left, and I believe that is why he left, because he knew they were going to change the way they operated. If he had any ambitions for a major FO role, that position wasn’t available in STL since Mo was here. You can’t have two POBOs…

and you are opposed to this because???

Then everyone got tired and couldn’t wait for the season to be over around Sept 15. JJW never got promoted. Just went home when Memphis was done. Doyle got all of 3 IP. No one of significance went to AFL either.woofy25 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2025 04:53 amDon’t the cardinals all the sudden have nearly the top rated farm system in baseball?Carp4Cy wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 21:36 pmThe question was about our 29th ranked offense.cardstatman wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 20:23 pm Gray for May saved $7.5M and netted 2 prospects: Fitts and Clarke.
They owed Gray $40M/1yr or $65M/2yr.
They are now paying Gray $20M/0yr and May $12.5M/1yr for a total of $32.5M/1yr.
May won't likely cover all of the innings Gray would have covered, but Fitts + May together should get those innings covered.
For a team that is supposed to be rebuilding there sure is a lot of building that isn’t happening. We did not even send a top five prospect to AFL if I’m not mistaken.
I get that we have to handle pitchers with kid gloves and be afraid they might break but hitters need to hit. Probably year round until they perfect the art.
There hasn’t been much notable progress in our farms physical development for 13 weeks now, while creative options are out there.

Please explain to me what you heard in the year end messaging from Bloom that made you think this was about improving the 2026 product on the field? They made it clear they were cutting payroll and rebuilding.Web7 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2025 19:58 pm Gray for May saved them money ….. they added a couple of arms and that’s it …… what about this pathetic offense? Nothing has been done for the present or the future…. Nothing but a lot of [nonsense] so far …..
Maybe Bloom will surprise us ….. I’m not holding my breath
Re: So far the Cards have done nothing but dump salary
Um Blooms own words … he said they were going to try and compete in 26 and also build for the future
Re: So far the Cards have done nothing but dump salary
I think that GF and Webby should:
*Meet with Bloom and straighten the team out!
*Take a majorly REAL DUMP together in their hotel bathroom!
*Give each other a couples massage!
Now.....that would be BAZAR!
