Does he have some sort contractual obligation with Boston to exclusively trade with them and take their middling or worst pitchers??
Did you prefer Mo's acquisitions of Fedde, Lynn, Gibson?
I think we’ve been in progressive Salary Dump for awhile now…..preferring Fedde, Lynn, Gibson??
Not sure what thats has to do whats going on here. These prospect are no more going to lead the Cardinals to playoff promise land than the Fedde Lynn and Gibson you list.
BDW is crafting a narrative that this is a “rebuild” and all substantial contracts must move to bring back those “prospects” to launch Cards to success sometime in the future. This bides him time to go extremely cheap and same MILLIONS. As I stated yesterday in a few threads. The return for what the Cards are attempting to trade will NOT lead the Cardinals to the promise land. More middling talent albeit cheap
Hey you should be happy they traded the guy you constantly whined and complained about and started entire threads to trash on started a whole thread about what an awful first baseman he was
I never said he was an awful 1B. Said his bat is nothing special at 1B. Said when they signed him he wasn’t the difference maker promised and he wasn’t a defensive catcher. Said money better spent on pitching and OF.
What I’d like is to have an owner who spends money on his MLB club and doesn’t let his Minor leagues go to chit.
As I said this “rebuilding” is a salary dump…..a time buy…..until and if BDW wants to spend again. These prospects coming back will be of little help in your “rebuild”
You started a whole thread to trash on him lol so hey cheer up and of course they weren’t going to get a lot back for complimentary player at his age with his contract. But again you should cheer bloom for dumping the guy you hated and constantly traded but I was right you have now shifted gears and are hating on him trading the guy who you hated them signing and constantly trashed while he was a cardinal trashed his play trashed his attitude now you’ve shifted gears to whine about them trading him I knew you would though lol

Please repeat after me: “THE CARDINALS 2026 WIN / LOSS RECORD IS NOT BLOOM’S TOP PRIORITY THIS OFFSEASON. HE IS REBUILDING FOR THE LONG TERM.”

I can’t believe we have to keep repeating this. There have been dozens of articles written and interviews given that explain this plan.
And you believe these player acquired to date will fill that role leading to an annually competitive playoff caliber team??
Forget what you’ve heard from Bloom or the great Media

He is starting to become one of the biggest trolls on the forum. Even number four or five starters don't grow on trees. Some might become more and some could become less. You can never have enough pitching and we weren't going to get front line starters for the players we traded

Yea the great thing bloom is doing is bringing in a lot of depth for the rotation he’s still looking to sign another veteran starter. The reason the cardinals sucked so bad was because they had no rotation depth and were stuck running mikolas Fedde and pallante out start after start to suck now they can replace them quickly and there will be actual competition for rotation spots

Settle down. I was responding to a post concerning this topic. And yes, I am happy with Bloom’s moves so far. I just want him to focus on offense now.

Lynn was alright for what he cost us. And didn’t cost us an all star in trade either.

I’m fine with more 1 year signings like Lynn and May.
Who was the all star that was traded? And Lynn sucked. As did Fedde.
Donovan is the all star. Assuming he actually gets traded.
And Lynn had a sub 4 ERA and the Cards had an over .500 record when he pitched. Can’t ask for much else for what we paid him. That’s not suck age.
He couldn't even finish the season. He was toast. If he pitched that well, why didn't anyone offer him a contract for last season?

And Donovan hasn't even been traded. Why dont you wait to see if that even happens? And if he is, who they get in return?

They need to be better than pallante fedde and mikolas I think they can do it may can be better than gray was if he’s healthy the other veteran pitcher the cardinals picks up will be in the mix also along with liberatore and if any falters they can bring up someone from Memphis the Rotation will be better next season

Bloom has a strategy and we may not all agree with it. It is better than not having a strategy like MO the last 3-4 years. MO's strategy was acquire one player in the off season and hoped it worked. It did for a while until the system imploded. Will these pitchers lead us to the promised land? In the aggregate, maybe. One of the trades being proposed for Donovan was the KC pitcher of Noah Cameron. He is mostly considered a #4/#5. We now have May, Fitts, Dobbins, McGreevy and Liberatore who all profile as that, plus Doyle, Mathews, Clark, Roby, Henderson, Hence and Hjerpe who project as that or better. That is 12 guys. Plus there are a few more. If 7 of the 12 become that or better in the next 2 years, that means we should be able to get 2 Donovan equivalents back in trades as well as have a younger better overall pitching staff. If Donovan nets 2 hitting prospects back and 1 of them becomes good, we could potentially end up with 3 Donovans by 2027. That is the strategy. But, it is going to be a painful process getting there.

they are saying Dobbins will be in the "rotation mix".

here's what I don't understand.

isn't recovery from a torn ACL a full 12 months?

They sure have secured the #5 spot in the rotation and maybe the front end of the bullpen in both STL and Memphis.
