+1... I highlighted the shows I think it's well worth subscribing for a couple months to watch (also would add Pachinko). Silo just S1 imo.FrankTheTank wrote: ↑24 Nov 2025 17:01 pmI would never tell anyone else how or what to spend their money on, BUT AppleTV does have some really good shows on it.I really like Rhea Seahorn, but I don’t have an Apple subscription and I’m not going to sign up for one for a while until there’s a couple of other shows on there I want to watch.

While we're on the topic of AppleTV, has anyone stuck with "For All Mankind" and is it worth it?

I'd say give it a shot. Pretty interesting concept and the show is at its best when it sticks to the space race/political intrigue story lines but does occasionally veer off into the melodramatic. If you can handle Joel Kinnaman as the lead, then you should be ok. Season 5 is supposed to be released some time soon.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 10:01 am While we're on the topic of AppleTV, has anyone stuck with "For All Mankind" and is it worth it?

I thought the latest episode was one of the strongest yet, and it lays out a TON of different directions the show can go in IMO.

Appreciate the feedback. I've stuck with it and am really enjoying the show through season 2. Joel Kinnaman is a bore as one of the leads, but that's ok.todd-parker wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 18:51 pmI'd say give it a shot. Anyone figure out whose voice it is that does the “Hi Carol we still love you but need some space” recording that we have heard a dozen times.
I did not know until I read the story about it. I knew who it was going into this weeks episode. I won’t spoil it.

Re: Pluribus
E7 kinda boring. Manousos is cool but Gilligan doing the drag-everything-out artistic sequences, esp with Carol's story, that made BCS such a chore to watch at times. Let's get a little more plot please.

Re: Pluribus
I see what you are saying, but I disagree somewhat. I think the entire theme of the episode was how different the two people, who both remain "human" are handling their situations. Carol is calling in for gas, an "ice cold" Gatorade, a catered top-end dinner, etc. She is somewhat abusing the niceness of the aliens (or whatever we want to call them), where as Manousos is defiant, to the point of risking his life, to not take anything from the aliens, or the people who he says have stolen everything. It is two completely different takes from our two main characters, and their path to eventually meeting.E7 kinda boring. That's why I thought it was a good episode, but also a Gilligan staple, showing us the lead (or leads) with very little dialogue, or action, for us to understand what they are doing and how they are feeling in the moment.
Re: Pluribus
I get it but I maintain it does not require an entire episode to accomplish this. And I grant I'm in the minority who does not have patience for this aspect of Gilligan productions.FrankTheTank wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:04 amI see what you are saying, but I disagree somewhat. I enjoyed the episode as well. Also pretty cool to take a deep dive into the Darien Gap, which is the only impassable portion of the Pan-American highway. Interesting to hear the stories of those that have traveled the entire way from Alaska to Argentina (minus the Darien Gap).FrankTheTank wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:04 amI see what you are saying, but I disagree somewhat. Re: Pluribus
E8 continues the slow boil but with at least a new development in Carol's tactics.
Seehorn has hinted that next week's finale has a major reveal, but I've lost steam on this show and if the reveal ain't major enough I'm not a definite for coming back to S2.
There's certainly a lot of material to mine in the upcoming relationship between Carol and Manousos, so I guess S2 will be interesting just for that alone. But overall I'm tending towards Dicktar's early premonition on this show: mostly style over substance.

Re: Pluribus
I caught up on the show yesterday and I'm not sure how I made it. I wanted coffee, but didn't want to cross the picket lines at Starbucks, so I considered a recreational dose of Sudafed. Fast forward helped a lot.
What a tragic case of a good idea ruined by Prestige TV Bloat. I love Seahorn as an actress, but this character is just not interesting enough to carry this on her own. I know she's supposed to be unpleasant, but she's just flat-out boring, and the characters around her are even worse. What is with the dialogue on this show? I know I'm paranoid about everything being written by AI these days, but if anything, I think ChatGPT might do better than what we get here, when characters go off on Big Monologues that are just accumulations of pointless details about train whistles and mango ice cream. The aliens can remember every tiny detail of everybody's life except, apparently, the interesting stuff.
In the later episodes there is a trip through South America that reminded me of the MST3K classic Manos, Hands of Fate. That infamously features about 30 minutes of stock footage of characters rock-climbing, obviously just to get it past the industry-mandated 81-minute feature length.
Rah rah for Seahorn winning some overdue acting awards. Fine. Then maybe everybody can stop pretending this is even watchable.
Yeah, I'm sure there's going to be a Big Twist in the finale. And I bet I can guess it:
