OT: 5 teams for 4 spots in both NFC and AFC

Post by rezero »

With more teams being eliminated and more clinching this week, it has come down to this:

AFC
- NewEngland, Denver, Pitt/Baltimore - LOCKS
- Bills (10), LA Chargers (10), Jacksonville (10), Houston (9), Colts (8) - FOUR SPOTS

NFC
-LARams, Philly, Tampa/Carlona - LOCKS
- Seattle (11), Bears (10), San Fran (10), GreenBay (9), Detroit (8) - FOUR SPOTS

Using the NFL Playoff machine and putting in my guesses I have the Chargers and San Francisco playing golf when the playoff rolls around.

I wouldn't discount the Chargers. They lead the conference in AFC wins with 8.

If they beat Houston at HOME next week, then they will have 11 wins, which can only be matched by Indy and Houston, who play each other the final week.

Indy did beat the Chargers but are two games back with games vs SF, JAX, HOU

It's virtually impossible. Pitt plays Baltimore on the final Sunday.

Baltimore lost to Houston and have two less wins.

If Baltimore wins the North, then Pittsburgh can't catch the Chargers with only 10 wins and a head to head loss

If Pittsburgh wins the North, Baltimore can only get to 10 wins and would lose tiebreaker to Chargers based on conference record.

Pitt can lose the division and still have 10 wins and can still pass Houston and Indy

Pittsburgh is 63% to make the playoffs and 62% to win the division.

What does that tell you?

The Chargers have a 95% chance to make the playoffs.

The 49'ers have a 98% chance

What were the guesses you put into this playoff machine?
