Cranny and Top
Were you aware Before I posted that Marte had the Cards on his NO Trade list??
If not, you gained knowledge not yet known……for that you should grateful.
And if the both of you enjoy having a substandard team because of MO and a team that talented players are putting on their LIMITED NO TRADE list perhaps you’re not Cardinals Baseball Fans……

BINGO

Hopefully that had a lot to do w/Mo (and likely Oli who was listed at the bottom of MLB Managers a players survey said they wanted to play for, yet another reason he must be gone after 2026).
Mo is the top reason this organization is where its currently at. He idiotically drove the franchise from annual contenders to under .500. Hes the reason they need a rebuild.

As for oli, that's on Mo for hiring him. Marmol is so insignificant that one player in the managerial poll couldn't even remember his name. 8O
We can only hope C. Bloom is following BDWJr's orders to keep Oli in 2026 because he's 1) under contract and 2) Dewitt see's it as a re-build season..........but then he's canned at seasons end and Bloom brings in a real Manager.
It seems like he likes Oli.
Other than doing a good job with the bullpen I've always asked, "What does Oli do in game to make the team better"?

The answer is nothing.

And just this past season he did a really poor job not managing NADO, Noot and Donny's obvious injury situations, allowing them to stay in the lineup when they were obviously compromised.

TLR benched S. Rolen, a future Hall of Famer, when Scotty was injury compromised and fought Tony like he ll to stay in the lineup.

Oli doesn't have that ability, always giving in to veterans who want to play even when not at their best to the detriment of the team.

He's just not a good Manager.

Tries to be "buddy-buddy" w/the players IMO.
I agree with everything you said. And my hope is if oli is retained past 2026, he grows a backbone and manages the players instead of trying to pacify them.
First thing he needs to change is his tolerance for losing. It doesn’t even seem to phase him one bit. Not every boneheaded game-costing mistake should be viewed as a learning opportunity. The only time I recall him even remotely holding a player accountable was TON, and he handled that poorly.

Very poorly. He benched Bader once for a perceived lack of hustle. Yet other players are allowed to loaf and sulk. And of course yuk it up goofing off in the dugout during blowout losses.

Oli is either not smart enough or was given orders not to deviate from the game plan crafted BEFORE the game started. As we all know games are won by managerial gut decisions made from WATCHING THE GAME. He seems incapable of doing that
When the camera shows him in the dugout during games, he often has a gaze that looks like he's a million miles in lala land. Or he's got his head down with his nose in the iPad. Definitely a product of analytics making every decision.

Hate to sound like a girl, just want to know what the mission should be. I want what you want, tell me. I get confused and lose the big picture, just want to fight for what you want as a dedicated Cards fan wants. I love the Cardinals too and want want best with reasonable expectations. I want what is best for you and will fight for that. What is it?

Why would the Cardinals be trading for Ketel Marte right now?

Cardinals president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom announced publicly we are dumping and there will be tough times ahead. It's a moot point that Marte doesn't want to be traded to St Louis because we would never trade for him anyway but he would not want to be part of a dump. Too much self respect.

Yankees on the other hand have a history of acquiring high level players like Marte. Unless there is someone on their roster who he dislikes then I'd say the Yankees fans might be the reason.

Good post. Losing does not always “help us in the future” as Marmol stated several times during 2023.

And he did screw up the O’Neill situation by going public.
