Minnesota probably figures they can get half of that back if they have to move him but in the meantime, maybe they feel like they might be able to win a cup

Yeah, I get why they make that deal. They have a solid team and sure seems like he'll make them a bit better.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 19:29 pm Minnesota probably figures they can get half of that back if they have to move him but in the meantime, maybe they feel like they might be able to win a cup

How could you not be? It sucks losing a talent like QH but there is an argument to be made that this trade not only makes Vancouver more well rounded team now but better in the future too. Just…wowPierre McGuire wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 19:04 pm Holy balls…just got back from dinner and saw the breaking news report. If you’re a Canucks fan, you are beyond excited….what a great job by by Allvin.

Yup. They going all in. Must believe the time is now. Lots of high end talentTruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 19:05 pm Minny has been coming on and climbing the standings. This is a massive pickup for them. They’re a good team that just got better.

Just a great hockey trade.
Canuckleheads loving the Buium addition, but all the other stuff a question mark.

That’s a huge return for a guy they might not keep longterm. At least they know they can flip him in a year if he doesn’t want to re-sign. But still… Rossi, Buium, Ohgren, plus…
This is 4 of their 1sts over a 7 year stretch for one guy.

This is the equivalent of 4 1st.....Wed be lucky to get 1 for CP55 or Faulk if we trade either.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 19:20 pm When you see this, just gives me more hope that a desperate team will make an offer for Parayko

Minnesota gonna need some help at center. JR mentioned a couple of weeks ago that he thought the Wild had interest in Schenn

Desperate team…desperate. If Army moves Parayko it will be for more than a 1stZizzle1297 wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 20:00 pmThis is the equivalent of 4 1st.....Wed be lucky to get 1 for CP55 or Faulk if we trade either.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 19:20 pm When you see this, just gives me more hope that a desperate team will make an offer for Parayko

Re: Q Hughes to Wild for a HAUL
I could be wrong, but didn’t they reportedly try to trade Rossi over the summer before signing him to a bridge deal? He’s been a good producer, but I don’t think they were sold on him. Ohgren has ZERO points in 18 games this year. Buium is a good get, but he’s not Hughes. And the 1st should be a pick in the 20’s. Don’t think they gave up as much as it seems. Pretty much Rossi and Buium.bluetunehead wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 19:56 pm That’s a huge return for a guy they might not keep longterm. Love to know the other offers. I believe from reports Jersey was going with the multi 1st rounders; but Philly's offer would be nice to know.bluetunehead wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 19:56 pm That’s a huge return for a guy they might not keep longterm. Minny does like their American born guys; here they get the 2nd best Dman in the game to go play with Faber.

Re: Q Hughes to Wild for a HAUL
How can Minnesota be considered a Cup contender with their centers?
They're even weaker now with Rossi being jettisoned.
Yurov better turn into a stud.
Look at the top centers in the West right now and in the next 5-10 years.
This trade just ensures that the Wild will be middle of the pack for a long time.
Even if Hughes extends there it will be similar to Parise/Suter 2.0 just after they finally got those contracts off the books! The deal Guerin gave Kaprizov left many wondering if Billy was as dumb as a box of rocks. This trade leaves no doubt.
As a group the top 4 d-men of the Wild are undersized for playoff hockey.
Great deal for Vancouver.

That’s a haul for sure.
Top line forward, top 2 defender,
A 1st this year.
Wow.

Buium was a guy you pull the trigger on a move up for. A legit top end guy. But this organization doesn’t do that.
They’re too worried about what fans would think if he was still there and they’d have to play smartest guy in the ro again
Re: Q Hughes to Wild for a HAUL
Those calling what the Canucks received a “haul” are delusional. They received a D prospect with massive defensive issues so far in the NHl, an undersized C that MN has to bury in the lineup during the playoffs since he’s too small to hold up against opposing 2nd lines, a former 1st round pick that is a complete bust, and a future 1st round pick that will be towards the end of the 1st round. The Canucks have to hope Buium pans out, which isn’t looking good so far, or they’ll have received very little for one of the best players in the league.
