Re: Kyrou Injury
I don't mean to point any one out here.
The folks on this board who claim some kind of supreme hockey knowledge and it then usurps common decency and or respect for others opinions on this board is extremely short sighted for a public fan forum.
There's all kinds of people and walks of life and all kinds of hockey knowledge posters here amongst us folks.
I get the one up man ship from the "experts" and the fun of it for them but for many here we are just fans trying to learn and give honest opinions from a non expert point of view and trying to have some fun doing it and occasionally being.....right.
In 16 years here I've learned a ton about hockey and I am grateful for that. At the same time, I like to think I've passed some of my own insights onto others as well. And for 99% of the time if I offend some one in the course of communication I end up feeling bad about it.
Maybe this happened here.

Dude a lot of people here have played in, watched, coached, attended and/or reffed tens of thousands of games in the aggregate. There is a lot of knowledge in that.dhsux wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 17:52 pm I don't mean to point any one out here.

Most of the regulars have seen almost every minute of a lot of the Blues player’s NHL careers. We’re as knowledgeable about at least that as any scout honestly. We’ve seen them more.
No matter what, and this place has ups and downs, I love talking Blues hockey here. I’ve been here since before it was called stltoday. I can’t even remember the old name. I literally grew up on this forum.

but never, never, ever, never will a player or coach or trainer or staffer or... you get the idea... ever ever ever get near any of that stuff they're pushing down 'only the rest of' our throats. Because that would be, you know, dodgey. Standards must be maintained.

Because they barely squeaked by against two mediocre teams? Hofer completely bailed them out against OTT. Had nothing to do with "compete" or anything else you may say that Kyrou lacks. The MTL game was better than the OTT game for sure but nothing crazy and they still almost blew it.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 13:08 pmIt’s two games, realistically… and they have even a better team.
From the Captain
"Guys just buying in for one another," Schen said. "At the end of the day there are no complaints and guys are going out there and playing hard for one another. When you do that you start to build something and you can feel it. I think we have had a good response since Boston."
Kyrou played less than one full shift after the Boton Game
The main point though is that you taking a victory lap on your anti-Kyrou agenda after one (or two) full games is absurd. I don't love Kyrou by any means but you can't take a guy that puts up the goals and points he does, replace it with nothing, and think the team will be better long term.
Were you poring over a legal brief when you watched those games?
They had their backs against the wall in both games and nobody backed down.
Its a different bench and a different team.
I don’t think you get close enough to smell those things.
I never EVER said Buch had a huge IQ. It’s always about his unwavering commitment to do the dirty work- the grunt details that garner him the most playoff assists since he’s been on this club…
Your idea of swagger seems to be derived from numbers and a detached viewpoint, rather than the way fought like hell to win those games- even though their numbers were bad.
And my view is not just from stats. I also watched the games. Anyone who says the Blues showed any more swagger in that Ottawa game than they otherwise have all season is, frankly, delusional.
I love Buch and make no excuses.
I have never said he had a high hockey IQ.
I am fairly stingy with that accolade.
Stick to the [fork]ing point… if ya can!
Speaking of be better you should look in the mirror and heed your own advice.

Seriously though, what would it say about the "compete" of the rest of the players if watching one supposed floater in Kyrou is enough to demoralize them all? What a dumb argument.
It’s hilarious that he thinks ONE player affects the attitude of the ENTIRE team.
Re: Kyrou Injury
Well yeah, that does appear to be the argument, and it's a silly one. What does it say about a team if it can be "dragged down" by poor effort from one guy, skilled or no?Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑08 Dec 2025 16:02 pmI believe the argument is that the lack of effort from one of your most skilled players is dragging the rest of the team down. Now, the fact that he's not scoring on the clip he's expected to, THAT'S a problem. But it isn't solved by substituting him for some plug, and thinking the team is improved by simply doing that is just kind of goofy.

they aren't carrying puck possession or creating offense on any regular basis at all.
I have been as big a Robert Thomas boomer as can be, and he quite frankly has been quite disappointing so far this year. He isn't carrying the play at all and has looked more like a #2 center this season than the top 10 center he should be.
Kyrou has been equally as guilty. Far too talented to not control play in the offensive zone. Way too many dump ins with no sustained pressure, very little cycle game for the majority of periods, and too many missed passes.
Until the top 6 actually start acting like they are capable of playing as this team will be stuck in mud. They are actually better than this, they just actually have to play like it.

When one of your players isn't trying then it is essentially 4.5v5. That drags the rest if your line down because they are having to overcompensate for your lack of effort. Has nothing to do with demorilization.Ziggy3 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025 08:09 amWell yeah, that does appear to be the argument, and it's a silly one. I'm talking about the how and why of interaction between ALL honest posters here, self included. I've been a fan and followed this team since '67 and consider myself knowledgeable on the sport to that extent only but still worthy to offer opinions here.......I think there should be room for that for all posters here no matter their experience.
I'm a little off topic and this is not directed at you, just something I've been thinking about.
