Kyrou Injury

Post by hockey jedi »

I'm no doctor, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Sorry for negative thoughts, but I think Kyrou tore his ACL and will be out for the season. I pray I am wrong and I will gladly accept the beating from you all if I am.

No need to apologize, Master Jedi. You could very well be correct. 8)

I’d bet good money it’s a lower body injury

That's right. We may be justifiably frustrated, or disappointed with the player's performance/effort, but I don't like to see anybody injured, particularly if they are not of the personality to intentionally try to injure others on a regular basis. We need him. We need him to be better. But if we don't need him, then we definitely do not need his value to be diminished by potential suitors' concern about the effects of whatever injury.

Monty kind of downplayed it last night. Says he's probably day to day or maybe 7 - 10 days. He said they still have to get a "good" look at it. Sometimes they present as not serious until they get an MRI.

I wonder if they sent him back to St. Louis last night to get that MRI?

That’s good to hear, at least I hope so. The one thing that makes me think it wasn’t an ACL injury is that he didn’t have his foot/skate firmly planted on the ice, and his leg moved easily when the guy hit him. But as always, who the heck knows.

Monty def downplayed the severity with an out clause after.

Did he not stay around the bench area for awhile after coming off the ice?

They said on the Ottawa feed that he would not return with a lower body injury. I thought maybe it was his hip.

Meanwhile, Broberg got smoked in a tender spot on a shot block, then was seen blocking one in front of the net with the same part of his leg.

Tkachuk taking the stick to the eye and then returning in time for the PP.

Sunny, having seen Broberg carried down the tunnel, stands firm and blocks a hard one, finishing his shift and skating off. The Ottawa broadcast even praised him for not flinching, just standing there and taking it.

Could be long term or could be as simple as a charlie horse.

Kyrou has made strides to become a more complete player. While i remain frustrated with his extremely low hockey IQ, and his occasional lazy dumps that end up in high danger scoring chances against, i don't really hope to see us down him for an extended period of time. We need any offense we can get.

Still, i'll never not be frustrated with him i don't think. hard to see the stupid mistakes stopping if they haven't by now.

a tad frustrating to see Toro get a 5 and game for a knee to THIGH hit, but a direct knee to knee gets nothing

embarrassing

I had the same thought. A direct knee on knee hit with injury. We’ve had two occasions with no call on the ice, refs confer and then decide to call a major or double minor after review. Blues weren’t offered that option on Kyrou’(poop). One more black mark for NHL officiating making up the rules as they go.

Couldn't agree more on the player and the frustrations he causes. At the same time, we do need his offense....period. And I'm doubting the charlie horse, since they said they needed an MRI, which implies knee to me. Hopefully just a mild strain and nothing structural.
