Quick hook on Binnington

Re: Quick hook on Binnington
Hook was necessary whether it was fair or not. Can't get too far behind in games as the margin for error is too small now. Binny plays better mad so maybe this will be the match that lights the fire????

“You know, I love Jordan Binnington,” Montgomery said after the eventual 4-1 loss to the Ducks. “He’s a competitor. He raises his games in the big moments all the time. I love him. He walked off the ice, he said, ‘I love you!’ I said, ‘I love you, too!’
“We’re both competitors, and at the end of the period, he waited for me, we apologized and we moved on. It’s over and done with.”
Like coach said both guys are passionate and with a rough road trip coming up this last game of the homestead to get to .500 was important.
It won't be the last time coach and player are at odds.
I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for it to be any other way.
That second goal was bad.
Montgomery starts at 5:19.

So was the first one. The Ducks had a 2-1 lead without having had a high danger shot. Monty had no choice,Hofer held the fort but no offense made the two clunker goals the difference11WSChamps wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 08:34 amNothing to see here.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 08:19 am Nothing to see here. Yep, followed immediately by "Two (bleeping) Bachelor of Sciences goals."MrPostman01 wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 06:11 am you could read coach;s lips after the second one
This is Bachelor of Sciences![]()
He was simply trying to salvage a game while there was still a chance. No head-games, and he had to know Binner would be upset. But that's coaching...you make the tough decisions when they're needed. Had a rested backup coming off a shutout too, so that was certainly a factor.
Re: Quick hook on Binnington
JB has matured quite a bit but is still a in the moment player.
Nothing I saw was out of character for him....he showed the fire we have all seen before....but if he had done nothing at all no surprise either.

Being mean to him to try and make him waive his NTC?Galatians221jb1 wrote: ↑01 Dec 2025 20:13 pm I watch with announcers muted but he looked pretty upset at being pulled. Cant help but wonder if a Binnington trade is being discussed and they’re looking to make him anxious to wave off his no trade clause. Extremely early hook.
What a great way to run a team.

Binner could of pitched a shutout the rest of the game but if you cant score it doesnt really matter. 0 for 6 on a the Powerplay.

Re: Quick hook on Binnington
After watching the replays, I don’t think it was warranted. On the first goal, it was deflected. The second one bounced off Binnington’s pad, then off the post, then in. In live action, both goals LOOKED soft, when in reality, both were flukey.

You’d have to think Binnington wants out.
Return wont be amazing, but it is what it is

Re: Quick hook on Binnington
Monty was justified in being frustrated by the goals and pulling Binnington as he likely felt he had to do something to keep the game in hand.
Binnington was justified in being upset he was pulled as he likely felt both goals were flukes. Had Binnington simply skated to the bench and sat down, then I would be worried.

BINNER IS THE BACKUP.....HE WILL BE THERE WHEN WE NEED HIM IN THE BIGGEST GAMES.

Re: Quick hook on Binnington
I was ticked. But if they resolved the thing to their satisfaction I can live with it. Most of us care about our Blues, and although I don't believe the actual goals had anything to do with it, we need Binny and it sounds like Monty still knows that. There's not much to be learned from coaches or players saying anyting to the public. What they share with each other should make things right.
