Edmonton fans are falling in love with the Clattenburg kid; had a goal last night (his 1st NHL goal) and was one of the few that actually showed up. he also had 7 hits. Kids is a real gamer (throwback); problem he's one of the things the Oil need more of not less.... they really are missing what Evander Kane and Connor Brown brought.


My guess they would love Walker and Toropchenko.

Skinner in the first,- pulled after letting in 4 goals on 8 shots and then Pickard who let in another 2. According to Kypreos, binnington is going to the oil with skinner as part of the return. If steen lets armey do that, he should be out the door with armey as well. Not sure whose goalers are worse edmonton or montreal?

Yeah Kypreos running over goalers on purpose must have rattled his brain because that's not a deal Army does in 100 years.

On the surface, I totally agree with you, Jack…..and in general, I think Kypreos is an idiot. But the interesting thing is that Hofer and Skinner were actually a goalie tandem in juniors. Hofer is younger and was Skinner’s backup. So if Skinner is nothing but a throw in on a bigger trade, I could see it happening. As foolsgold says, Skinner actually CAN be great at times, so maybe he can be salvaged. He’s on the last year of his contract, so not much risk in taking a look. But the thing that makes a Binnington trade to Edmonton more ridiculous……I can see Binnington approving a trade to Toronto, but Edmonton? Can’t see it happening. But if by chance he would, I’d have to imagine Bowman is desperate, and we already know he’s pretty clueless, so I would imagine we could get a good package in return. Edmonton doesn’t have a ton of trade capital, but they do have a 2027 1st rounder, Matt Savoie and Isaac Howard.

I’d say there is about a 2% chance of a Binnington trade to Edmonton happening, but it probably isn’t 0%.

You are correct Frank there is never a 0% for any trade. As they say if Wayne Gretzky can be traded anyone can be traded.

I just don't see us a trading partner with Edmonton as Skinner has shown he is just not good enough. Yes he's been to 2 consecutive SCF so you can't take that away from him, but that has more to do with a weak Pacific division and a ridiculously strong central division and way less to do with him stealing a series here or there. Teams from the central just beat the (bleep) out of each other while the ones from the Pacific have overall just been pretty average. That doesn't mean he can't get hot for some games here and there, he's proven he can, but he's not nearly consistent enough. I don't want anything to do with him, and if I'm Army I'm certainly not trading one of my best assets to Edmonton for a lesser player.

And if we’re trading Binner to EDM I want young up and comers, guys who are still a couple of seasons away from hitting their peak. Skinner can kick rocks. I’d rather role with Hofer and let him sink or swim.

That would be the ideal scenario, but they don't even have those.

What about Howard and a 1st for Binner?
