Double digit win seasons and hundreds of millions of dollars in facility improvements and getting the program back on the map doesn't go as far as it used too.
Yes it does

If the Board had a contract extension prepared, they would’ve handled it last week. Calling an emergency meeting right before Thanksgiving signals something urgent and final — most logically that the coach is leaving and notifying the Board in a controlled manner to preserve relationships and manage messaging. With a $9M salary and a top agent, this will be handled cleanly and professionally, not leaked or chaotic.

So Cusumano would have to be wrong then about the finalizing of a new contract. We shall see.

Oh, well, I guess I'm going to have to side with the folks who say Mizzou isn't getting any coach who's better. They may be right. I thought expectations and the bar would be raised by now for Drinkwitz, but he still has not scored a signature win in 6 years. Just gotta hope for the best going forward, but this offense is absolutely awful and boring, and it cost the program a CFP berth. And STs still stink. What a colossal waste of an elite defense. And with the schedule getting tougher next year and losing a bunch on D...
I don't necessarily disagree with this.

A lot is in place and a foundation is building.

Now hire the best OC money can buy and get the hell out of his way.

If I was on the BOC that's what I'd be telling him in this meeting.

My question is why extend him again, and probably raise his pay and buyout into top 10 level again? Missouri is bidding against itself. I just don't get it. Nobody's going to poach a guy who can't win a big game.
THe reason he is being extended again with a new contract is because some other team is trying to snatch him up it seems. Its a real possibility that Drink has at lease one real offer from another team, and they may have contacted Mizzou about him is my guess and from what Im hearing at different places...Drink could jump for more money at some other school it seems

Getting rid of Drink would increase the chances of them getting another Odom than it would getting someone who takes them to the next level. They would likely fall back to South Carolina/Kentucky levels. The names floating out there are Alex Golesh, Eric Morris (OK St now), Matt Campbell, or some coordinator. None of the potential replacements are inspiring in the least. Not a good year to be in the hunt for a head coach.

It's not about more money for Drink, himself. That has been made clear. It's about resources

There are going to be right and wrong people regarding what this meeting is about. Dellenger is pretty connected. One would hope the local guys have credible sources as well.

It is being reported that LSU is following this closely because Drink is on their short list if they miss on Lane…

Of course…lots of things are “reported”

If only we could go back to the Barry Odom days!
Noooo!
People complaining about Drink have very short memories.
Indeed.

We are generally playing consistent football, generally beating who we should beat and generally having respectable losses to highly-ranked teams. The team generally doesn’t quit.

Drink is a huge improvement over Odom.

Now, the arguments that he doesn’t have a big win, that play calling and QB management sometimes seems questionable, mediocre discipline, and have we peaked?. Valid.

My opinion: I hope they don’t do CRAZY things to keep Drink (especially in the buyout department), but the risk of “a step backwards” is too real if he goes.

That and $1 will get you a cup of coffee.

Somebody on SEC rant just reposted a tweet that a potential deal between Penn State and Drinkwitz was off. From some dude named Jared Smith.

Most folks walk before they run.

In fact, every one.

For my money Drink is driving this in the right direction and his results pretty much show that save "the big game" which, if given the time, will come.

The guy is 42 years old and still in a learning curve...and coming out of it. Stay the course.

And disagreeing is fine but put up the names you want here please.

If I’m the curators Drink is doing enough for an extension. If I’m Drink I know I’m not ready for a top program. For Mizzou fans we have some fun see some great recruiting and some awful in-game coaching which our talent will mask and consistently be better than the worst SEC teams and worse than the best. And every now and then we’ll have a great year, with luck, may be in the conversation.
