That's lower than what you said the Cards would get for Carlson and Arenado. Donovan has a higher value. Curious, what teams would give the Cardinals an established MOTO bat or a TOR starting pitcher for a projected $5-6million player like Donovan? And why would a rebuilding team take on even more money in contracts in your scenario? And "savvy GM/POBO" isn't a viable response.

Any return for Donovan would be prospects that would likely play in the minors. Outside chance they get a floundering young major leaguer, it's a very outside chance that Fangraphs projects producing less than 1 WAR.

That's what the industry is saying...that's what the Cards want...prospects.

This is exactly why I asked Shady in the comment before yours. I was making sure my eyes hadn't left me yet!

Herrera 3
Burleson 6
Winn 7-8
Scott 9

I'd leave Contreras 5.
JJW at 1.
Need to add a 2 and 4.
I'd add Bellinger for 2 and Suarez for 4

JJW 4
Bellinger 9
Herrera 2
Suarez 5
Contreras 3
Burleson 7
Winn 6
Gorman DH
Scott II 8

Current roster: Arenado traded; Gorman traded; Walker to AAA

1. Wetherholt 2B
2. Herrera C
3. Donovan 3B
4. Contreras 1B
5. Burleson DH
6. Nootbar LF
7. Winn SS
8. Church RF - at least he can field
9. Scott CF - at least he can field

You have Arenado and Gorman traded ... Why not Donovan ? It's not a matter of IF he is traded but WHEN he is traded IMO Seems 98% he is a goner . There are so many suitors out there , I can't see how someone won't give Bloom what he wants in a return for Donnie.

whatever we can do to set Burleson as the 6 hitter. He is a really nice hitter at 6 in the lineup. I don't want him in the 3,4,5 spots

When everyone's here (JJW) and healthy (Noot) and also assuming NADO & Donny have been dealt:

(Noot/RF - 1st)
(JJW/2nd - 2nd)
Hererra/DH - 3rd
Bumbles/LF - 4th
(WillyC/1B - 5th)
Gorman/3rd - 6th
(Catcher - 7th)
Winn/SS - 8th
VSII/CF - 9th

Some good suggestions. One thing for sure, there are a lot of variables for the lineup, depending on expected moves, going into '26. Big question, how will they get a much needed power hitter? Especially, without spending some big bucks. Two nice additions would really be helpful. Wetherholt at 1, Herrera at 5, Burleson at 6, Winn at 8 and Scott II at 9 are reasonable options. Now Bloom needs to fill in the missing spots.

For the umpteenth time, they aren't primarily focused on being competitive next year.

Everyone is dreaming. They won't add anyone if it increases payroll.

So you are confident DeWitt is fine with dwindling attendance in '26.

No, I am confident that your head is so thick that you simply won't listen to what Bloom is saying, no matter how many times or how many ways he says it.

Does Burley bat 6th? He's a "Utility Player", so decreed by the MLB. That's only good for around 120 games. "Utility Players" usually slot in around 8th or 9th in the lineup. At least he has a "Prime" subscription.
