Is Drink greasing the skids...
...to head out of town? The apparent complaining about large public companies not buying advertising caught me off guard - never herd that being an issue. Drink has been showerd with support (facilities, pay, and payroll, and NIL) like no other coach I can think of in his six years, and other than the Schrader year a few back, the results have been not stellar. Drink is the one who's held onto Moore longer than anyone else would have. I fear this is Drinks 'French Excuse', and he had to dig deep to find it.

Got some sources for that info ? Or you just spewing bull[shirt] ????
Re: Is Drink greasing the skids...
The announcers mentioned it tonight on the game. Said Missouri has tons of fortune 500 companies but not one is advertising in the stadium. He attributed those comments from Drink firsthand.MizTruBlueLuvzU wrote: ↑15 Nov 2025 23:47 pm Got some sources for that info ? Or you just spewing bull[shirt] ????

FWIW, there are eight Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Missouri. Centene, Emerson Electric, Reinsurance Group of America, O’Reilly Automotive, Edward Jones, Graybar Electric, Olin and Ameren. All are based in the St. Louis area.
Of those, only O’Reilly Automotive would benefit from advertising to the general product.

I heard Drink's quote as I was leaving last night. It also might be a way to put pressure on.acco40 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 06:09 am FWIW, there are eight Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Missouri. Edward Jones is on the ribbon boards a lot.
Drink might have been talking about physical signage.
That being said, it's a 2 way street. Mizzou's lack of presence in advertising space in St Louis is embarrassing. If Mizzou is to take the next step in program development then Mizzou fandom needs to be less provincial.

SLU gets a lot of attention it seems in St Louis - not sure why. But agree on the provincial aspect for MU.Power74 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 09:02 amI heard Drink's quote as I was leaving last night. Drinkwitz would be better served getting his "QB of the future" ready for next week's game and beyond and leave the marketing aspects to the university which needs to get on the stick.

These are the companies that are expected to buy luxury boxes and suites. Mizzou saw the sellouts of 23-24 and rushed to the north end expansion. If Mizzou returns to 8-4, 7-5, 6-6 seasons as their schedule strengthens, those are going to be a hard sell.acco40 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 06:09 am FWIW, there are eight Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Missouri. I root for both schools and seldom see a conflict doing so. For what it's worth I do not consider myself "provincial " or "parochial".JackBolly wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 09:48 amSLU gets a lot of attention it seems in St Louis - not sure why. I personally think Drink is staying here and I'm not partaking in all the speculation of every move he makes being something self serving and part of some exit strategy.
Re: Is Drink greasing the skids...
Jut tonight in channel 5 news, Drink is considering looking elsewhere because one of his complaint is that the Mizzou players are not paid enough.
we shall see what happens.
He is all over the place. no corporate sponsors, not paying the players enough, what else. Guess we will know when he flies to Penn State, LSU, Florida, etc for an interview.

How about he learns to beat a ranked team for once and then his complaining would be easier to listen to!mdkieffer wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 18:38 pm Jut tonight in channel 5 news, Drink is considering looking elsewhere because one of his complaint is that the Mizzou players are not paid enough.

Re: Is Drink greasing the skids...
I moved to St.Louis from Michigan in the late 60s. First thing I noticed was that college sports had minimal interest as compared to professional sports. That has continued for over 50 years even though they’ve lost an NBA and NFL franchise in that time (and came close to losing an NHL team). Is it because there are no real other collegiate rivals in the state? I don’t know.Power74 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 09:02 amI heard Drink's quote as I was leaving last night. Re: Is Drink greasing the skids...
Mizzou's marketing has been atrocious. Even in the Pinkel years. It's like, do you even want to build a fanbase? They should be inundated the set Louis and KC markets to get kids excited to watch and play for Mizzou. Instead it's like "come watch us if you feel like it".11WSChamps wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 11:03 am Drinkwitz would be better served getting his "QB of the future" ready for next week's game and beyond and leave the marketing aspects to the university which needs to get on the stick.

Re: Is Drink greasing the skids...
So I'm not alone in feeling that way. I few clunky ads for the CAT-PAWS phone number was the extent then and it seems like less now. The need for a marketing presence is maybe more important than our competitors due to the fact that our flagship university is a two hour drive from our biggest metro areas.onemizzou wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025 08:38 amMizzou's marketing has been atrocious. I married into a kU family so I have spent my time in the KC area...anyway...kU is a 30 minute drive for most of the side of KC that would be your season ticket fanbase so they are going to get a larger number of supporters by default. Even so, their marketing footprint in KC is stronger than Mizzou's.
Re: Is Drink greasing the skids...
Drink would be foolish to not at least look and listen... his track record is for winning records and beating teams he should beat. Has he beaten anyone he really shouldn't have yet beyond maybe a couple of games? The challenge coming in the schedule would make not looking at opportunities for potential financial security foolish on his part. If others are truly talking to him the worst he should do is increase his annual salary from MU.mdkieffer wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025 18:38 pm Jut tonight in channel 5 news, Drink is considering looking elsewhere because one of his complaint is that the Mizzou players are not paid enough.
