...to head out of town? The apparent complaining about large public companies not buying advertising caught me off guard - never herd that being an issue. Drink has been showerd with support (facilities, pay, and payroll, and NIL) like no other coach I can think of in his six years, and other than the Schrader year a few back, the results have been not stellar. Drink is the one who's held onto Moore longer than anyone else would have. I fear this is Drinks 'French Excuse', and he had to dig deep to find it.

The announcers mentioned it tonight on the game. Said Missouri has tons of fortune 500 companies but not one is advertising in the stadium. He attributed those comments from Drink firsthand.

These are the companies that are expected to buy luxury boxes and suites. Mizzou saw the sellouts of 23-24 and rushed to the north end expansion. If Mizzou returns to 8-4, 7-5, 6-6 seasons as their schedule strengthens, those are going to be a hard sell.

I root for both schools and seldom see a conflict doing so. For what it's worth I do not consider myself "provincial " or "parochial".

I personally think Drink is staying here and I'm not partaking in all the speculation of every move he makes being something self serving and part of some exit strategy.

I moved to St.Louis from Michigan in the late 60s. First thing I noticed was that college sports had minimal interest as compared to professional sports. That has continued for over 50 years even though they’ve lost an NBA and NFL franchise in that time (and came close to losing an NHL team). Is it because there are no real other collegiate rivals in the state? I don’t know.

So I'm not alone in feeling that way. I few clunky ads for the CAT-PAWS phone number was the extent then and it seems like less now. The need for a marketing presence is maybe more important than our competitors due to the fact that our flagship university is a two hour drive from our biggest metro areas.
I married into a kU family so I have spent my time in the KC area...anyway...kU is a 30 minute drive for most of the side of KC that would be your season ticket fanbase so they are going to get a larger number of supporters by default. Even so, their marketing footprint in KC is stronger than Mizzou's.

Drink would be foolish to not at least look and listen... his track record is for winning records and beating teams he should beat. Has he beaten anyone he really shouldn't have yet beyond maybe a couple of games? The challenge coming in the schedule would make not looking at opportunities for potential financial security foolish on his part. If others are truly talking to him the worst he should do is increase his annual salary from MU.
