JoJo is going to have multiple suiters.
I wonder if he may be bundled w/NADO or even S. Gray?
Gray is as good as any of the top 3 or 4 FA starting pitchers.
And at 35M payroll price tag, he can be had for perhaps a hundred million less total investment.
For a team looking to compete and bet big on 2026, while being wary of the planned 2027 lockout, he may actually be far more attractive than this year's FA crop.
Bottom line: he may have far more value than most expect.
That said, the larger question is where he would and would not be interested in playing next season.
Have to agree Mel
I've said a few times teams who think they're one starting pitcher away from winning it all may be more interested in taking a large portion of Gray's salary ($30M?) for one year vs $200+M long term for one of the other FA starters.
NADO would be my choice to couple w/JoJo, increasing the return as well as having to eat less salary (though not much less, BDWJr is still going to have eat 50%-75%).

The bummer is that over the years I’ve really grown to like all three of those players. Wish Noot had a little more health and consistency. He’s a fun personality.
Fan's aren't supposed to like player personalities and just accept the fact they should be traded for random prospects to create more theoretical value.

In his Sunday Post article , Derrick Goold said that Bloom and his 3 asst. GM's met with both agents and Gm's . When meeting with the various GM's , the 4 of them floated that they are open to 'listening to offers' and specifically mentioned 3 players .. Donovan, Nootbaar, and Romero .
What all 3 have in common is that they have 2 years remaining prior to free agency so open to moving them this winter.
Of course , Arenado and Gray both have NTC provisions and are in a separate category as they must have OK to trade those two unlike the 3 names floated above.
We are shopping Nootbar and Romero because they are 2 years from free agency? Does Bloom think they are going to sign unaffordable contracts?
This can't be true.
No, he’s doing it to accumulate prospects…
Why only these guys and who is going to give us a good prospect for Nootbar and Romero?
I think Goold also said Donovan.
About the other two, I’m sure Romero could get you something. Nootbar? Maybe something. No reason not to put out feelers.
I'm sure it's more than just these 3 players or we are in big trouble.
After the top 3 nobody on the team made $3 million in 2025.
I agree with moving Gray, Arenado and Contreras. I don't agree with moving Donovan but at least I understand the logic. Nootbar and Romero with 2 years left on their contract? As if they are going to be unaffordable as free agents.
I'm starting to wonder if Dewitt III who apparently has a business degree is just going down the list looking at where he can save money. We'll see - perhaps we will sign a couple free agents to fill gaps but that list looks like Charlie Finley level cheap.

They need to restructure their payroll. Both Bloom & BDW want to be competitive eventually, and it doesn’t make sense to be so top-heavy when they’re clearly headed down the totem pole.

You: "Nootbar and Romero with 2 years left on their contract? As if they are going to be unaffordable as free agents."
All of the impending trades have ZERO to do with whether they will be affordable after their contracts expire.
The Cards obviously have players that they feel could benefit from a “change of scenery”???
Needless to say.... most clubs have players that fit the same category.
Any could be grounds for potential matches in trades?
I would much rather them to bundle Romero with Donovan and get a better player or players back than with Gray or Nado in which to have to pay less money.

Are you serious, it has everything to do with how much money they make! Unless you missed it, the Cardinals are cutting payroll.

IMO, Gray and NA aren't in the
same category. Gray is productive enough to
be a top 3 guy. That cost to acquire.
Cards pay $10 million and they would save $30 million all while increasing Sonnys appeal enough to get something in return.
Nado is filler for a team that doesn’t have a better option. Not necessarily as big of a part of the roster as a top 3 SP or even a Donovan as a good hitting UT
Bundle if it improves the quality of the return, not the quantity nor a few bucks with the exception of throw ins that have seemingly little value.
