Even though we are down 5, not a bad start as the defense looks good. Just need to hit the boards harder.

This is becoming more and more true as this game continues. Rebounds are the only thing keeping Minnesota in it. But it’s such a huge discrepancy Minnesota is somehow winning.

It’s critical in Gates’ offense he has 3 point shooters so they can play inside out. It gets bad when we can’t knock down 3’s. Northweather can help with that, a big who can knock down the 3. More I watch him, the more I think he needs significant minutes.

He's fundamentally sound which is sorely needed on this team.

Still don't understand why Crews plays so much but Gates really likes him.

Rebounds are all about Want to. Desire to beat the opponent. What did Gates do before this game. Have these guys go out and Run a Marathon. They look slow and this is a Middle of the pack team in the Big 10.

3 turnovers in the half. Held Minnesota to 30% shooting in the half. Out rebounded by 13 (24-11). No excuse to get pounded on the boards like that.

One thing Gates should consider is to insert Randall who is willing to "do the dirty business" as opposed to Porter who looks scared to death.
Gates has "nothing to lose" to give Randall more minutes than Porter in non-conference games.

You want defense and energy, then get Boateng healthy, He is another energy guy.

Been saying that the whole game. Porter is a 5-10 minute guy at best to give the 4-5 starters a breather. Porter thinks he's Michael and does not close out on either end of the floor. Randall loves the paint. Porters scholarship would have been better used on a good combo guard in the Portal like Stone . Wish for once Gates would be honest on Pierce and Boatang. This total [nonsense] . I thought Drinkwitz was bad. It's not like Gates is hiding a nuclear secret.
