Flyboy65 wrote: 29 Oct 2025 18:28 pm Florida beats a top #10 Texas team and a couple weeks later fires the coach, if Drink beats a top #10 Texas team in Columbia, it would be pandemonium in the streets, the fans would storm the field and tear down the goal post, and the admin would rush to give him another raise and extension.

In Florida beating top #10 Texas gets you a couple weeks, then you get fired.

Drink would never survive at Florida, Penn State, LSU, etc.

Drink is making $9 million per year, tied for top #10 highest paid coach in the country, but Mizzou doesn't expect top #10 results, those other schools do.

Drink is a big fish in a small pond, just keep beating the unranked teams, go to a cupcake bowl, and you make top #10 money.

Those other school would fire him.
This is the most disingenuous post I’ve seen in a while. The first half is pure nonsense
It may be a bit hyperbolic, but he was trying to make a point. And it's not far from the truth.
Napier’s been on the hot seat for multiple years. He lost to a group of five school, was 3-4 this season, and everyone knows Texas isn’t good. It’s just complete nonsense to somehow suggest that beating top 10 teams is the norm in Gainesville but it’s not good enough. Napier was 22-23 as the head coach at UF. I don’t think Missouri fans would be too happy about that record either. Drink was on the hot seat going into 2023.
I actually agree with both of you. Mizzou definitely gives Drink more latitude than Florida would. But it is true Mizzou isn’t exactly an easy job, he was on the hot seat going into that ‘23 season. I will say Texas is not bad. They almost beat Ohio State and they throttled a good Oklahoma team. Texas has tremendous talent and any given day they’ll play like a top 10 team. They’re just really inconsistent obviously.

I’ll also say this. Drink has done well here. The winning has been fun. But he needs to win big games consistently and knock off top 10 teams. And make playoffs. We’re spending a fortune on football. Neglecting other programs like baseball. I give Drink this year as kind of a rebuilding year. But I, for one, will be extremely disappointed next year if we don’t make the playoff. To me, next year is Drink’s year to absolutely get it done. He needs to keep the talent here and bring back a loaded roster. If not, he should be on the hot seat.
I disagree. How can making the playoff be the standard when it’s never happened? Their defense is going to be decimated after this season. They’re losing a ton. No way drink replaced it all and the schedule is just gong to get harder. One more conference game and the opponents are better. If drink leaves at all, it’s don’t to be this year
The right QB can make up for holes in other places.

Zollers may very well be the guy to do that.

He'll wind up being the best QB Drinkwitz has brought here.

Somebody posted this on SEC rant today. What does everybody make of this? Anything?

Vegas knows!

After Drink surged to (-105) yesterday, Florida coaching odds were removed from sports books.

Here is the harsh truth. Drink may leave simply because he is scared to stay. Missouri has had a very soft schedule the last 2 years which boosted his name in the HC ranks. The play on the field has not been as elite as the record suggests. He has not beaten a ranked SEC opponent and next year we play Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Florida. He may run knowing he will not be successful once the schedule turns. Others are starting to think the same thing.
Next season, the Tigers will visit Georgia and Ole Miss, and they will host Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Florida. "Drinkwitz is smart enough to know he's got to get out."

If Mizzou finishes strong with wins over TA&M and Oklahoma with a 3rd string QB, expect those odds to increase if Kiffin stays put.

I don't know how anyone gets into coaching in the SEC if they ever had this line of thinking.

Its ridiculous.

Everyone knows how tough this conference is and starting over at time bombs like Florida and LSU isn't going to change that.

These guys don't run from challenges. Their egos won't allow it. They may fail and get fired but jumping ship on a program you build from the ground up then leave because of the schedule carousel in the SEC is the silliest thing I've ever heard of.

The demise of Drink's courage has been greatly exaggerated.

Here is the harsh truth. rezero is a cowardly, little boy who loves to cry wolf in the desperate hope someone will pay attention to him.

Guru rank? Never heard of it. Besides, I thought Bill Connelly was the board's stat man of choice.

BC ranks Florida's schedule #2 in the country to date and toughest in the SEC, and he puts Missouri 31st nationally and 15th in conference, ahead of Vandy. That should change after this week's trip to Austin.

Yeah thanks for pointing that out, I thought the "pandemonium in the streets" would be enough for everyone here to pick that up, but obviously a couple missed it.

My point was Drink hasn't proved much at MIzzou other than he can consistently beat unranked teams, and that wont cut it at Florida. If they still want him at the end of the season his buy out will be about $5 Million, and he will want a raise on his already $9 Million per season, steep price for a guy that hasn't proven he can get over the hump.

The university has done everything it can to help Drink get that big win, and he just keeps failing.

However he still has that opportunity, the bye week came at the perfect time, he has got to know ATM is gonna stack the box, take away the run and short passes, he has got to finally go downfield, and Zollers appears to have the arm to do just that.

Drink just said a few hours ago Brett Norfleet is considered day to day after a separated shoulder, and Brett Brown, who rejoined the team following Sam Horn's injury is now QB2,

what makes people think that Florida is a still a destination for one to deal with all the drama? For one, Florida is dumb enough to offer mega momey in which the severance package is hard to pass up. So one will put up with the drama for 2 to 3 years and then get fired...then set for life for that severance package.

Anybody still think Florida would interested in Drink?

ESPN just flashed a stat Mizzou now has 6 straight loss in AP ranked matchups.

Personally I hope Florida or ANYBODY comes after Drink and his $9 million per year salary, top #10 paid coach in the country, but has never deliver top #10 results.

The apologist will blame this loss on Mizzou having to start a #3 QB true freshman, but you have to ask yourself why wasn't the #2 QB available?
