Let me understand this. You’re recommending that other posters on an anonymous baseball forum get a “new understanding of life”. I fall close into the socially isolated, as I live in a big house alone. Everyone is gone.
I get out daily, and do tidbits around the yard. Two cats.
I like to communicate and see and hear others perspective and so I start a thread for that purpose.
Of course, I’m not 80 yet.

Cranny, just curious….do you know what BDW did with all the revenue from about ‘98-2006, when the new stadium debt service kicked in??
Attendance
‘98….3.2mil
‘99….3.225
‘00….3.336
‘01….3.1
‘02….3.0
‘03….2.9
‘04….3.0
‘05….3.5
‘06…..3.4
‘07…..3.5
‘08……3.4
And then from every year on BDW had crowds of well over 3mi until ‘24 when STL FINALLY became fed up with He and MO. So STL has given BDW nearly 30yrs of 3+million lining the LLC pockets….and you come on here complaining he can’t pay his 20yr Stadium debt service and that HIS Partners need to be paid……
30yrs year of top of league attendance lining their pockets….THEY let the team to go POO…..but THEY need to get paid

Whether I’m retired or not is no one’s business. But I will tell you this. When you own your own company you make your own schedule. You can garden, play golf, or smell the flowers whenever you want. No one is looking over your shoulder.

Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
The sad state of the game means that teams in middle America will have to vastly over pay for and player of quality. They all want to play on the coasts, and the limelight. St. Louis, Kansas City, Cleveland, Milwaukee just cant offer what the coastal teams can for life outside of baseball.Cusecards wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 12:39 pmI’m all for spending as long as it is done WISELY.Shady wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 12:22 pm When allocating needed money to improve the Cardinals. Isn't he a billionaire? The Dodgers spent $300 million this season on salaries. They've won the last two World Series. The Cardinals haven't even been to the playoffs for the last three seasons. DeWitt needs to put 2 and 2 together.
You don’t just spend for the sake of spending!
Who do you propose they spend the $$ on?????
Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
Looks like I hit a nerve. I also make my own schedule.
Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
You bet. When you discuss in public whether another person who's older should be retired or not, it's really not called for, Red. And you know it.
You make your own schedule now, but when one works for someone else, they don't have the same kind of freedom as someone who works for their own company. Simple as that.
Moving on............
Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
Cranny remember the Spring you were touting that our MO had so many starters(6-7 I believe) that there weren’t enough innings to go around???
Well one of those fellas was just outrighted…..Oh Zack Thompson….what could’ve been

Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
So a poster who constantly talks about their personal life is complaining about someone calling them out about those personal comments...their lack of self awareness is appalling...and the fact they are on here 24/7 makes me question their business claims...and that’s sad and pathetic.

The Cardinals how lost there way on marketing and how to spend there money appropriately. We continue to see DeWitt keep his market small and he continues to lack vision on how to expand his financial base. This isn't just about TV revenue, which is the pour mouth way that the justify there low budget and spending. Japanese star players in the US pay for themselves, they do. With a single signing of a start Japanese player, DeWitt would expand his TV expand his sales of Cardinals gear, etc. This is pure laziness and lack of vision by the Cardinals. The Dodgers saw an opportunity in Japan and are raking it in. The Cubs have decided to access that revenue base a well. What are the Cardinals doing? Chirp, Chirp, Chirp. (nothing).
So Bill's money problems are due to his lack of vision and him needing certain profit numbers. Bill is in the same cycle as AB III was. No investment = no fans = no winning = no reinvestment dollars and a culture of losing. It's time to sell.

Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
Yes, injuries will do that to a pitcher. Don't ya think, Goldfan? Just hoping that Hjerpe and Roby come back strong. And Mathews gets his velocity back.
